Should there really have been a discussion about this? Why not just create a contest and see how it turns out?

Hmm. Might as well toss in some input, huh? First off, I'm all for this competition. I don't even have photoshop anymore but I'm more than willing to give this a shot with Paint.NET (google it if you want a free photoshop-like program). Its capabilities are limited but hey, why not? I also think that this should be weekly, not biweekly, because I don't think it's that time consuming to make a sig. If there are themes, that'll give competitors a sort of visualization that'll shorten the graphics making process by quite a bit (at least, I think so). The less time you have to 'strategize' and map out your sig, the more time you have to make it. And submit it to the comp. :)

As far as themes go: neopet related, DC Comics, pokemon, movies (ad-type deal thingy), yourself (manip. a picture of yourself into a sig), vectors, old school, video games, where's waldo (blend a waldo image into something random, ie put him in the Last Supper).. I don't know, there are endless possibilities :P

Where's waldo would be really fun, but we could make it a different person each time...maybe one week Bush and the next Adam Powell!!

How about something easy and cheesy for the first one or two, like underwater, sunny day, starry skies, darkness, black and white, etc. ?

Because last one I held had only one entry. Kinda annoying.

I definetly think we could use more graphic competitions.
It would help people on NF to stay active and interested.
There doesnt seem to be many graphic makers here.
but id totally be interested.
My only problem would be getting to a computer with photoshop.
Or even a computer with net.

Overall this seems like a general "good idea." However, as lazypando stated, "only 1 entry." You would over-reward an individual possibly eh..? lol

Even still I think the concept is great, however, I would at first like to know how many individuals would actually consider competing at first, maybe an entry poll with the theme, "Would you be willing to enter a Graphics competion" would be wise. I also noticed a concern for getting "pwned" by artwork.

In the relative above statement, I would suggest a strict concern on themes, topics, issues, items etc. This not only ensures the artwork is true, but also doesn't put the creators in there typical genre offering a challenge to both new, and avid artists. I myself am not an artist, but enjoy the nature in which they're created, and inspiration shown in the art itself.

Although it's not likely, I would hope everyone to critique the artists vision, and not level of skill. It's not always about being well-done, or perfect, there is a true nature that if observed closely can be seen with naked-eye. There is more in a picture sometimes than a thosand words could ever say, you just have to look harder.
