    college sports all the way!

the great thing about college is that most of the students become professionals in something other than sports. that is so awesome!

I can't stand the NBA... its SO boring. I also think they should implement the 3 year rule for college bball like they do for football. These high school kids going to school for one year, then jumping to the NBA is really hurting college bball.

Lol, except for LeBron James...he's like the only guy that had a highly successful jump though. I mean, the NBA needs to get more people to make it exciting. Also, it's too strict and straight. Barely any trick plays :(.

The NBA will never be as exciting as college bball. Especially when March Madness comes around.

Well, I barely get to keep up with the players in college. On NBA, the teams don't usually change every position every year. I guess this is how to put it: Pros, you have less "changing" = Fantasy.

College = More exciting because they are young, and not paid.

    Is that what you mean?

i dont really watch sports other than the world poker tour, but when it comes to football, most of the time college games are most fun to watch, mainly because of whats been said already, the unpredictable WILL happen. but when it comes to the pros..shoot, order me some pizza, break out the chips and cards and im all about the super bowl. but to answer your question, id lean more on college, unless you think your skills are up to par with the pros.

I didn't completely read this whole thread very carefully, but there are just a couple of things I would like to point out.

First, I'll start by saying I enjoy watching pro sports more than their college counterparts except for basketball.

To Sir Charles: To say that it looks like the NBA players do not try thus making it worse is a very odd point of view that has not been well though out. The level of gameplay at the pro level is so ridiculously high compared to that of college games, which is likely the reason why it looks like college players are trying harder...it's because the majority of them aren't any good so they play with a lot of heart and emotion. Yeah, that's what makes everyone love college basketball, that the player's pour their souls into it, but the fact that the college talent is not nearly as good as in the NBA is a major detriment.

Someone said that the NBA is all about a couple of star players scoring all of the points, this is the most absurd statement I have ever heard. The college game is MUCH more succeptable to star power than the NBA is. Because the general level of talent is low in college, having a superstar on your team will make you infinitely better than most teams. This is why certain college programs try to recruit players that they know will only stay for a year...it doesn't make any sense in the long run, but having a stud like Kevin Durant or OJ Mayo can give your team an enormous boost for the one or two years that you might have them before they go pro.

This year the college game has much fewer "superstars" than usual, making it much more exciting because it becomes much more of a team game, and the parity is much higher than usual. Madness this year is going to be better than ever (if you like upsets).

yes, I acknowledge all of your facts Ice Nine, however its just boring for me. You have teams like the Celtics which technically "bought" their championship last year, bringing in KG and Ray Allen. It's just not amusing to me as watching less talented players play trying to get to the NBA level. Anything can happen in college sports, just like Providence upsetting #1 Pitt the other night. THere is no way in hell (my) Washington Wizards are going to be the Lakers. Not without Gilbert.

That is very true, the NBA, you can almost "buy" the championship. The NBA is more like the more consistent teams with talent wins the championship, no shadows of a doubt. The college, every week can change the standings...which is something that I like.

That is not true at all...this is not baseball where you just outbid other teams (hence yankees). There is a salary cap in the NBA...if there wasn't a salary cap the richest owners would just buy the best players and essentially have the "dream team".

When it comes to watching games, I have to go with pros. The only reason why is I actually know most of the players names, so it's easier to like relate and whatnot when something good happens. I believe college sports are overall better though. I don't think professional players should get paid nearly as much as they do.

College. Mainly because college players are playing more for like fun than the pros are. The pros are just doing their job, while college athletes are maintaining decent grades, playing a sport, budgeting, and only making a certain amount of money per year. (I think its ~2500 in NC but idk) :p As well as that, it's basically anyones game in college, in pros its more leaned towards whomever has the better offensive line/defence.

(Adds to the like realism for me just in case you didn't understand the misc details xD)

    Pro football, College Basketball
The whole March madness just overpowers the NBA.
Pro Football is just on a whole other level than college which makes it that much more fun to watch.
