Oh, definitely. And the US government would make so much money in sales tax. I could rant about legalizing weed for ages. P:

This has been debated many times but its too hard to determine the right age. Too many factors, too many pros and cons.

does anyone know why the age 21 is significant in western culture... because that is the age of knighthood.
but in america where we value violence we moved the legal killing age down to 18.
but my argument is after a days work any law abiding 18 year old adult should be allowed to have a drink.

I think 18 should be the right age when we know what is wrong and what is correct. e.g (drink and drive)

In the US the drinking age should be 18 because when young adults leave home for the first time and get to college they tend to binge drink more between the ages 18-20 than those who are 21+. I guess knowing that you can just go buy a drink anytime makes you not as likely to drink to access and in turn get alcohol poisoning or doing something really stupid.

I think alcohol should be illegal. If marijuana is illegal, then alcohol should be, since there is no way that marijuana is worse. and this is coming from someone who doesnt smoke.

Alcohol causes so many problems that it isn't worth it at all. so yes i believe prohibition should be put back in place

Honestly, I've been to countries like France where the legal drinking age is lower and they are much more relaxed about it, and the kids deal with alchohol a lot more responsibly than kids in America do. I'm not saying the legal age should be abolished altogether, but lowering it and/or lessening the punishments for underage drinking would probably be beneficial.

    No kidding.

    Try reading this article:
    http://www.bnd.com/2011/12/07/1969435/m ... -kids.html

Underage kids (well...20 and 18, so legal adults in Australia) assaulted their mother because she threw out their beer.

In many places, the drinking age is 18 I believe.

In the United States, it's 21. I personally think if you are able to serve your country when your 18, you should have that choice and be able to drink when your 18. It's kind of stupid when you go serve your country and die for your country, they are still prohibiting you from drinking.

There are a lot of immature people who cannot drink responsibility (kind of an oxymoron), but the drinking age doesn't necessarily help them not drink.. so I think it's kind of irrelevant. But yeah, I guess 21 is appropriate. I wish it was 18, but whatever. :S

If a person is old enough to enlist in the army, and go get blown up in the white man's war, he should be allowed to have a drink I say. 18 is old enough I say.

Drinking is so harmful to the body, and causes unimaginable withdrawal symptoms, its not the drinking age that's important. It's the fact that the population is so uneducated about its harmful effects and addiction, that people choose to drink at an early age.

Oh and it's heavy promotion in the media... mainly hippop music.

I'm in the US where it's 21. I think it's right because it negatively affects developing brains.

I think the drinking age should be lower. The reason why there are so many alcohol related deaths is because people over drinking thinking that it's cool or something.

In my opinion, it doesn't matter. People can get drink at any store with money. More important is how to educate them to be responsible
