Hey guys. Tomorrow I have to go to day-surgery to get all 4 of my wisdom teeth extracted. The dentist said they need to come out. I'm a little nervous because I have never been put to sleep before, nor have I ever had any type of surgery. I've never even had a cavity or needed any dental work done besides a regular cleaning, so this will all be a new experience for me. I'm not so worried about the pain afterwards... just the anesthetics. I hope I don't wake up in the middle of surgery. *shudders* Anyway, I might not be on here for a couple of days depending on how incapacitated I am from the medication, and how bad it may hurt. I just wanted to let you guys know because I donated 25k for the Daily Giveaway, and if it gets drawn and I'm not here to respond, that's why. Okay, that's all. Wish me luck!
Good Luck! It's not SO bad I had all four of mine pulled out last year. I didn't get put to sleep though. I was awake the whole time. They gave me laughing gas though so I was ok. It's a little gross though when they have to crack the teeth  The worst part is after the surgery though and the day after. My word of advice. Make sure someone is getting your medicine for you while you are in surgery. Take those pain killers ASAP before their anesthetic wears off. I didnt. I went to the pharmacy after my surgery and I was seriously CRYING because it hurt so much. The guy told me it was going to be about 5 minutes and I burst into tears. And be careful what you eat and drink. The anti biotic made me throw up the first night. Make sure you have plenty of soft and easy to eat foods available for the next couple days
Ouch good luck. I've never had any kind of surgery which is a bit of a blessing. But I know (via family/friends) how bad it can be. Anyway, hope you come back soon and are not in too much pain
Oh..yeah I'm going to have my wisdom teeth taken out at the end of this year. Tell me how it's like when you get back would you? I wanna know beforehand what to do and stuff..
Thanks to all of you for the well wishes. I had the surgery early this morning. I'm doing pretty good at the moment. It's pretty painful, but the pain meds are helping a lot. I can tell when they are about to wear off though cause it hurts REALLY BAD. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but for some reason they gave me Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas) before they put me completely to sleep. I don't know why they decided to give me both... maybe because I was nervous or something. That was the scariest part for me because I DID NOT like the way it made me feel. It made me go into a sort of panic attack and my blood pressure and heart rate got really high so they gave me oxygen. Haha, what a weirdo I am. After they put in the IV I feel asleep almost instantly, but I don't remember doing it. The last thing I remember is the dentist singing. When I woke up it felt like only 5 minutes had passed, but in reality it had been like an hour or so. They had all these warm blankets over me, and it felt really nice. Then, they wheeled me to the car and I came home and crashed on the couch. Punkeydew, thanks for the advice. Fortunately, they told me to have the pain meds filled in advance and to take them before the anesthetics wore off. I don't even want to imagine what it would have felt like if I hadn't taken them. Oh, and please excuse my bad grammar and/or typos. It's the pain meds.
Nice to see you doing well....Hopefully when I do take my wisdom teeth out...I'll remember to fill out my pain meds in advance.
