They are okay. My last one broke though and it would cost way to much to fix it... If you like them for the memory, just get an external hard drive.
alienware is sooo expensive, you pay pretty much twice as much for everything. if you want the best price/performance ratio, you need to build your own. but if you arent too great with computers and dont know what youre doing, it would probably just be easier to buy alienware
Too expensive for what you get... Is better that you create a computer in a online shop alienware is selling "vapor hardware" - if you tell me what's your budget, I can create a nice configuration for you
PSU:2000$?! Well... You could create somethings like this: MotherBoard: Gigabyte GA-X48-DQ6 CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 Yorkfield 2.66Ghz 12MB RAM: OCZ DDR2 PC2-6400 800Mhz 5-4-4-18 OCZ2P8008GQ Platinum Quad Kit 4x2GB PSU: Enermax Modu82+ EMD625AWT 625W Case: Cooler Master CM-690 RC-690-KKN1-GP GPU: eVGA GeForce 8800GT KO 512-P3-E805-A1 PCI-E 512MB 675 Mhz HDD 1: Western Digital VelociRaptor WD3000GLFS 300GB 10000RPM HDD 2: Western Digital Caviar WD5000AAKS 500GB 7200RPM DVD: Sony NEC Optiarc AD-7203S-0B SATA LabelFlash
No problem You can change the 8800gt with a 9800gtx if you have a 20" monitor and you play new games (like Assassin's Creed)
You could easily set up your own computer with the same parts for 1000 dollars less than alien ware's cost.
vapor hardware = promise of hardware to come out by a company that doesn't actually result in anything; for whatever reason The cheapest method of making a computer is to self build via newegg or zipzoomfly. I personally use tom's hardware for benchmarking. They have a section dedicated to most cost effective hardware as well as high mid and budget suggestions.
Quick one over off the top of my head: MotherBoard: Gigabyte GA-X48-DQ6 if it does SLI then no i'd get another one unless this was on sale CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 Yorkfield 2.66Ghz 12MB quad cores are even more useless then dual...excepting like one game and AutoCAD RAM: OCZ DDR2 PC2-6400 800Mhz 5-4-4-18 OCZ2P8008GQ Platinum Quad Kit 4x2GB not sure who OCZ is but 5-4-4-18 seems slow though I've heard cas isn't what it used to be and it doesn't really matter now, long as it has a life time warranty I'd say fine PSU: Enermax Modun82+ EMD625AWT 625W love enermax...is all of the 625 really needed? Case: Cooler Master CM-690 RC-690-KKN1-GP case is for when you really have money left over, I'd get something cheap long as it has decent flow GPU: eVGA GeForce 8800GT KO 512-P3-E805-A1 PCI-E 512MB 675 Mhz sweet, but is this the cost effective range or high end? go cost effective HDD 1: Western Digital VelociRaptor WD3000GLFS 300GB 10000RPM HDD 2: Western Digital Caviar WD5000AAKS 500GB 7200RPM I just say no to WD...ask google which drive fails the most...get a 5 year warranty Maxtor imo AND still back it up DVD: Sony NEC Optiarc AD-7203S-0B SATA LabelFlash I worked for sony and sadly I have to say they overprice their stuff, I'd love this on sale
Well, it's a config made a long time ago The thing I'd like to change is the graphic card... Ati 4850 instead of 9800gtx
if youre going to spend all the money you might as well get a good gfx card, go for the gtx 280 and if you really have the cash get 3 of them in sli.
3-way SLI of GTX 280 = 1400$ And will be used ONLY on LCD with res. of 1920*1280 or even 2560x1650... For a common monitor like 19"/20" a simple GTX280 (or the upcoming 4870 from ATi) is enough
well if youre gonna be buying alienware i would expect you to have some cash. that with a decent setup would be like $2500 which is a good price for a good gaming pc. even 2 gtx280 cards would be awesome tho
All of this computer mumbo jumbo All I know is Alienware are overpriced. I'm content with my laptop =D
all the real hardcore gamers build their own. but yes alienware will cost about 2x more than getting the parts yourself. same with dell and pretty much all computer manufacturers.
