You should buy a windows operated laptop. And I'll explain why:
Windows is the most common OS so if you're looking for an app/game/whatever, chance it will be running on micro$oft OS. But my main reason is that you don't need a macbook (nor a mac) to install Mac OSX anymore. :p So, if you want to buy a mac cause it look nice, then go ahead. But if you're like me and function > form, then buy a pc/laptop. Finally, best thing of all, you can have Mac OSX.5.2 and windows on the same laptop and choose witch one you want to boot (dual boot).
If you need more infos on this "mac for pc" thing, lemme know. Oh, no need for an emulator to run Mac on pc, it's running native ;)

Really the only reason I'd see for getting a Mac is the fact that they are SO pretty.
You get major cool points for having one, plus the graphics are plain amazing.

But the fact is, you're going to get more computer bang for your buck with windows, hands down.
A $1000 Mac is crap, and will be quite slow, while a comparably priced Windows laptop will be MUCH better.

Plus Mac controls are seriously confusing..

Get pc, please. Programs don't work on mac, as they have so many glitches on them. my photo shop closes out on my randomly all the time. if i save something once, i can't save again, or it quits. aim, if i though the scroon ball in the center of the mouse, it closes. safari freezes all of the time. they can be very fast, but you can get the same with a pc. just go with the pc, you'll thank me later when you learn alot more about it, or if youdo get a mac, you'll regret it. i know i do...

i mean, i think macbooks are so pretty and i've heard they're great for editing/designing which is primarily what i need a laptop for, other than just surfing around the internet. i'll probably get a PC, i just don't really want to deal with vista and viruses and such. :)

Get a PC. Macs are garbage.

Plus most of the drawing software that works on macs, work on PCs also.

I'd say if you don't use it much, and just want to use it as a showpiece, then get the macbook. You're paying the apple tax for inferior technology, but better asthetics. If you actually use your laptop, and want to do productive stuff (ANYTHING other than art stuff), then get a windows laptop. At least you'll know whatever you want to buy at the store, it'll be compatable with the windows laptop.

Now of course you can install windows on the macbook, but then again, whats the point???

I've always had macs (starting with a Apple II E, yeah I'm that old ) If your doing industry work with music ect they were the bomb, for graphics I always used gimp its free. But recently I have had to add a pc to the house. So much better for games and spreadsheets plus most software is allot cheaper! Macs now have the option to run windows but it slows you down. I guess I'll always have my mac laptops I love not having to run virus scans every 10 minutes, but I'm glad it isn't my only computer anymore.

LOL this post should be on every mac vs pc forum across the internet. BEST post I've read from the numerous mac vs pc threads ive seen across the years...gives a little to both sides...but yet speaks the truth at the end.

A friend of mine is doing art classes at university, and she had to buy a Mac 'cause the programs they have to use run only, or run better in Macs... but these are high levels! For the rest... I'd buy a PC, they're more cheap and compatible with almost all the programs :/

macs are more aesthetically pleasing! They are drool-worthy.
But PC is the norm. I'm so used to it and i don't want to bother getting used to the macs.

it's a case...half the time I feel like not even bothering with one...usually when I'm trying to upgrade...just lay it all out in a fish tank of non conducting coolant fluid

seriously though, the pretty case doesn't help a mac play my games; blame who you want, and you might be right, but it's still often true...though Eve-O now has a mac client...probably buggy...er

I would say PC, but Apple laptops are incredibly pretty and stylish. It's a tough choice, but everyone's gotta make it =)
I recommend you go test-run them yourself at the store to know which one you really prefer most.

Macs can duel-boot, or run a partition and have like 50 OSes, I have Linux, Ubuntu, Windows Vista, and Lepord running on mine...
