Applications, dumb or neccesary?

Well in my opinion I think applications are really uneccesary. I think you'd find a better pet owner by just having a conversation with possible adopters than looking at artwork, and poetry, and roleplaying. Some people go on this huge powertrip and ask for tip top HTML and drawings and stuff and I just think thats really dumb and a waste of time.

 

True. It does seem like a waste of time. Though, if I wanted to give something away I would want to know that the person I was giving it away to was worthy. Even though it's just a pixel I wouldn't just give it to some random. I agree that having a conversation with the person is a better way than an application.

 

true dat. an application doesn't really tell you what the person is like. it shows you what they want you to /think/ they're like. i personally like giving away pets to friends, and not strangers.

 

Yep, i think they are useless, i mean, the person may be a GREAT artist and such, but that doesn't prove they are a worthy owner...

 

And some people may be a worthy owner but can't draw! Not everyone has that talent

 

I think pets should just be sent to the pound and whoever gets it is luck of the draw, this whole applications thing is ridiculous, especially when there is no 100% guarantee someone else wont pick up the pet before you do while its in the pound. Why waste the time and effort?

 

I agree. I wouldn't mind doing an application for a krawk or a draik. But most of the pets are just lab rats from the pound so I don't feel the need to put that much effort in for a lab rat especially if I might miss it.

 

I just figured what this topic is about. Neopets pets I thought it was real pets. Could you clarify it please? It would be easier if it was in neopets chat

 

yeah i didnt understand either, is there a new requirement for adopting pets or is it just an idea?

 

Just an idea made up by pounders. But it seems like 95% of pounders require some form of application now.

well, I feel most and i mean like 90 percent of applications are meaningless. But a simple thing could be usefull.

Things like how many pets they have, which account its going on, simple stuff.

The fact that they actually take the time to write a little out would make me more likely to give to someone over someone who just asks for a pound time.

But the people who have ellaborate crazy petpages devoted to a pet is just out of control.

 

Well General Chit-Chat is for neopets related topics so I thought the fact that I posted it here made it obvious I was talking about neopets.

 

Honestly. I dont care. I just stick that pets name on an Autoadopter and leave my computer on for days. I get the pet, end of story.

 

i look at it like this if you want to get rid of a pet someone will come and get it sometime and if you want all you have to do is keep your pets name and check in on it.

 

in my opinion they're not usefull..anyone can be a sweet talker and just bable sh#t about themselves..

Applications are a complete and utter waste of time seeing as we are taking about pixelated images. I mean, does it really matter if it goes to someone who doesn't look after it? Seeing as the 'pet' isn't actually real?

I think that those who request applications are just seeking attention rather than anything else. I would never say that to them as it's their choice and doesn't really have anything to do with me, but it's what I have always thought when I've seen the adoption boards/websites/guilds.

even the one with nice graphics may have been leeched off someone else..

in my opinion just a basic neomail will do, telling whats the receiver's plans for the pet.

 

Applications are lame, but I also think putting a pet up for "adoption," ie. making a thread in the HC is stupid. Just pound the thing... :roll:
