--To scan those files you downloaded that people claim to be ABers or Refreshers or any file, scan it through here before you open it!--

    http://virusscan.jotti.org/

It's an awesome virus scanner and I've never had any virus or spyware get through it because it uses a bunch of well-known anti-virus and anti-spyware programs to scan your file all at once!

The guys at MPC use it because of all the keylogged game hacks that people try to submit.

It really is top-notch, I hope you'll all use it to keep your computer and account more safe!

    Yeah, that's exactly right.

It has a maximum file size of 15MB. Then again, not many downloads are over 15MB are they? They're mostly scripts ^_^

Good scanner, thanks Karuken. But yeah, for all my systems spyware scannage I use Spyware Doctor. It works great and keeps my computer spyware free.

    I love it.

Is that a freeware or do you have to pay for it?

Naw, I have Norton for now (use to use Spybot - Search and Destroy.)

I was just asking out of curiosity.

    Thanks though!

That site will NOT detect if there's a username/password grabbing scheme in the program.

Don't think your aber's that you find elsewhere are safe!

Don't worry, I'm not discouraging people from using our download section XD

It detects literally everything, no joke. Try it out!

Edit- After re-reading your post, Marlene, I think you mean nothing in the file itself, but if it's a scam file...like a file that appears to log you in but instead of sending your loging info to Neopets it send it to someone's ftp server...

Yeah, it doesn't protect you from scams, that's for sure. You need to use your head for those!

Haha I think I sound really defensive about this site, but I'm gonna have to argue again XD

Since jotti's virus scanner uses multiple virus scanners, and each of those virus scanners updates at different times (I'm assuming as soon as they can), it will pick up new viruses.

The site also creates a log of all old viruses and their properties, unless any new viruses/loggers find a revolutionary way to hide their presence within files, the scanner will pick them up.

Most "new" viruses hide the same way in files as they always have, they just have different content and harm your computer in different ways...

    But I'm sure there's some super-sneaky-ultra-bank-security-hacking-data-logging-hyperbole-insert-smart-word-here
virus that could pass the test ^_^

I'd prefer to just pay for a commercial virus scanner, the protection you receive from the crazy internet jungle these days is well worth the money spent.

Oh yeah you for sure should have an anti-virus on your computer.

This site is for single files, not for your whole computer!

I have Norton with auto-update on etc. and when I scan some files it doesn't come up with anything (though it does when you try to extract the .rar or run the .exe etc. Norton is good about catching things in the act), and Jotti's scanner finds 2-3 different viruses/loggers

I was in no way saying that the site is a substitute for anti-virus software. It's just a VERY thorough file scanner.

I'd recommend AVG Free edition. Do a search on Google, it's a wonderful, free, virus scanner that you install on your computer and it automatically updates itself.

As far as i know, AVG is still free. I'm still using it. You just have to update the version once in a while.
