Can someone explain what Gzip compression does??

    When programs use gzip, what does it mean??

    it makes the program work faster than usual, for aber, makes it buy faster i think
    im not sure but thats what sommeone told me so im telling u now =]

    You know how ZIP, RAR, and other archives essentially work, right? They compress the data. So if GZIP is enabled over the net, the server (neopets server in this case) will compress the data before sending it over. This results in faster transfers and faster transfers means that the ABer gets the information faster. And if the ABer gets the information faster, it can process the data and send the data back faster :tehe:

    does it have a 100% percent chance of making the program run faster?

    If Neopets has Gzip compression enabled on their servers, then I can confidently say yes because most of the time taken by the program is to wait for the data to be sent.

    If not, then there will be no difference.

    I'm fairly confident that Neopets uses Gzip though
