Recently I got IP banned so I had to find a way to change my IP address or forever use proxies on Neopets. I couldn't find anything on the internet that worked, so I combined certain aspects of many failed attempts to come up with this:

    1. Open your web browser and log into your router settings by typing in your local IP address (usually 192.168.1.1)

    2. Find a way to release your ip address
    - For Linksys routers, go to status (all the way on right) and click "DHCP Release"
(I have a linksys router, it shouldn't be too different for netgear or anything else)

    3. KEEP YOUR SETTINGS PAGE OPEN!!! Unplug both your router, then your modem for about 5 minutes

    4. Plug the router back in, then the modem

    5. When all the correct indicator LEDs are lit up, click "DHCP Renew"

    6. Check your IP address at one of these sites:
    http://whatismyipaddress.biz/
    http://whatismyipaddress.com/

Hopefully you now have a new IP address. :)

I just turn the router off for a couple hours and it resets.
    My router comes from Verizon.
