Neopets is currently ranked 169 globally...
Here is a graph of neopets traffic since 2002...

    169 is still pretty high!

Is that 0.2% of ALL internet traffic?

I'm guessing the huge spike in 2005 came about when McDonald's was doing their Neo promotions, as well as the release of the TCG and video games. Looks like it's returning to about the same level of traffic as 2003ish.

Alexa is pretty cool, I was just checking it out.

And you can tell when things happen by the amount of traffic to a website.

For example, I searched "blink182.com" and found a massive spike around feb/march time 2005. Roughly 4x the usual traffic.

    When did blink182 split? Feb/March 2005 :p

    Its pretty nifty.

yup...but you should remember that ALL internet traffic doesn't me the WHOLE world...and many countries have firewalls that block certain sites...so to put it into perspective...

    Google - 24%
    Wikipedia - 6%
    Deviantart - .37%
    Geocities.jp - .5%

Of course Neo is losing it's popularity. A huge load of people quit after what they did with new layout. I was pretty mad at it myself.

btw why would some countries block deviantart? I think it's such a nice site with so many gifted artists. I like going there just to stare at awe at some of the things people there have created. :D

You can beg the same question as why do some countries block youtube?

There are lots of good stuff at deviantart but there are also some stuff that can be shocking to the population of some conservative countries... maybe that is why they are blocking it...I don't know

Ah I forgot to answer the question...It looks like neopets lost some popularity if you compare it to 2005 but I don't think it's too alarming

I guess that the only thing that keeps me connected to neo is this forum and its programs, otherwise I wouldn't be playing it anymore, I admit I liked the new layout at first, but it looks too much " full " now.
Back on topic, it's still good that neo has 0.2% of internet traffic, if DA has 0.37!

Do you not remember all the trouble there was because of that promotion though? Loads of lag and Mr Pteri down time. It was infuriating. I was one very unhappy girl..
