sometimes my cpu usage just goes way up and remains up there for no reason at all. i seem to find that ending a process called "SDII.exe" using windows task manager reduces my cpu usage but doesnt affect how my computer runs. anyone know what this process is supposed to do?

File SDII.exe is located in a subfolder of C:\Windows. The file size on Windows XP is 315392 bytes.
There is no file information. SDII.exe is located in the Windows folder, but it is not a Windows core file. It is not a Windows core file. The program has no visible window. Program starts when Windows starts (see Registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders). SDII.exe is able to record inputs. Therefore the technical security rating is 54% dangerous.

If you go into your regedit, you should be able to delete it without problem.

You don't need that program, just delete the file, it's not critical. Start in safe mode, navigate to where it's located, and delete.

See, this is what sucks for me, I have WIN98SE and although you can see the processes with CTRL+ALT+Delete, you cannot tell how much CPU usage each is taking up.. and my computer is so slow... :(

You can get XP for like $70 bucks some places these days, if you want to upgrade. Sounds like your computer is the problem though. You can get a good one for like $500 if you have a Frys around you :) PM me if you're looking at buying a new comp, I'll be happy to help you out.

If you have Microtek scanner, I'd say it's not malware. No problems there. However, go into Start ---> Run ---> type in msconfig and go to the Startup tab. Look under the command column for anything to do with the Microtek scanner and uncheck it. Then save changes and restart. It shouldn't automatically start up anymore, but it'll still open when it needs to.

If you completely delete it your scanner may not work correctly.

Whenever my older computer seemed to be lagging up or not proccessing as quickly as it should have been I would always de-frag. I don't know if this would help in your case, but I would give it a shot.
