I think a laptop is definitely more convenient than a desktop. However, I like that desktops can hold more programs and files on them, so I'll have to go with them.

Honestly, you don't need to hold as many files/programs that an entire HD can hold. Remember back in the day when we thought that 5 gigs of HD and 256 mb of RAM was plenty?

I'd go with a laptop, but get a good one (the ones with all those fancy peripherals :p ).

to be completely honest it depends on what you want to use it for. if you want to use you computer on the move and stuff like that i would say a laptop but if you want to use it for gaming i would say a desktop

It depends on what you use your computer for primarily.

If you want to take you computer to class or to coffee or use it on the buss you need a laptop.

If you are trying to get the most for your $ get a desktop.

If you don't want to buy a whole new computer in 5 years or so get a desktop.

If you want to play games, do video/music editing, do CAD or Mathematica/MatLab get a desktop, you can do it on a laptop but it'll cost much more and you could do it better on a desktop.

If you do a lot of traveling and work away from home get a laptop...better yet make your job get you a laptop.

Imo always get a desktop first. Spend as much as you can afford on the best price to performance ratio hardware at the time. Then if you have money later get a cheap name brand laptop in the 15inch range that is powerful enough to do web, music and simple games like neopets. You can take it around like a portable media station and do you serious work at home.

I chose laptop ... even if it's good to have both. I usually need a lot of space soo a desk computer is good for me.
And another problem with laptops is that they are kind of easy to break :D

Desktop is better for memory capacity as it can hold a lot more. But laptops are more convenient and can be carried around. Depends on what you want really.

Desktops, because laptops beak easily, the screen, less memory, while a desktop, more memory and capacity.

how could a laptop ont be concenient? you can take them pretty much anywhere and they're faster than quite a few normal PCs.
however, they do cost more if that is in fact a factor.

A desktop is the best way to go. but laptops can hack systems using wifi.

If you have any interest in online gaming, desktop is the way to go without question.
