does staying in front of the computer for too long does to the eyes. Someone I know is always in front of a computer and she told me on the phone how she is starting to get knots behind her eyes, red eyes, and pain. Is there a name for this?

No idea. But she should probably do some eye exercises in between long periods of the computer. One I was taught a while back that also uses both sides of your brain is moving your finger in an infinity loop, and follow it with your eyes. Your computer should be about an arm's length away.Does she get headaches or is it the eyes that hurt?

I think concentrating on far objects in the distance helps ease the strain, but I'm not an optometrist, but she should probably see one if the pain continues.

Soooo true. Especially when you're on the computer in the dark-- That KILLS when you're blinking afterwards haha.

Yeah, they say our generation will have eye troubles because we spend so much time staring at computers and TV's haha.

and when i chat on aim, the time just flies right by, and before i know it, 10 pm turned into 1 am.

I used to play a lot of Diablo II, and later the LoD expansion on-line. Now i have to wear contact lenses because i'm short sighted.. I never thought there was a connection, but maybe my eyes became too used to focusing on things close to me..

It's always best to take regular breaks.

Having good lighting as well should help lessen the strain with your eyes sight.

In fact that's just something that a Lamp-seller made up, because his lamps weren't selling enough.

Haha, where did you hear this from? Who was this lamp seller?

So if your computer screen's illumination is set too high, and if you have the rest of the room's lights off, you're saying that wouldn't strain your eyes?

Yes, yes, you say that. But who was this lampseller that made the claim?
Personally my eyes do feel a little strained if all my lights are off, and turning on a light does make them feel better. If that doesn't affect you, fine. But you can't ignore that lighting can make a difference.
