I have winxp home and when I use windows exploer or just out of the blue I get a message saying that exploere.exe needs to be closed. I know this is bad but how can I fix it
try scanning for spyware. as a last resort id suggest reisntalling windows, but i doubt it will come tot hat
hmmm.....I have an XP and my explorer works like lightning......is yours an olderish model? Like the first XP?
ah I reconnize that thing.....i was just checking somethign on my task manager. I put it on high priority and my computer works fine.
I'm having the same annoying problem your having, you need a hotfix, but it takes forever to do, search this problem with google and at micorsoft.com
I use registry smart, I had the exact same error, this fixes it, (well it did for me at least!) Heres the link for a free scan and fix. http://registrysmart.com/setup.exe
you might be experiencing a bug more complex than a registry fix, its a bug dealing with SP2, someone releases are buggy, if the reg fix and the restart dont work for you (as they didnt work for me) then pm me and I'll try to help out, and if you want to just make it so you arent alerted when explorer.exe crashes you can disable the alert, so it will restart explorer.exe without freezing up the screen and getting in your way of doing things. Try this to disbale the alerts: you can go to winnt/system32/drwtsn.exe and uncheck visual alerts i think, i did another method but I forgot right now, im telling you google works wonders so also give that a try
LOL! I'm sorry, that just made me laugh when I saw what you posted, it's explorer.exe, not Internet Explorer, but the system files needed to run windows xp. I'm running SP2 right now on Windows XP Professional, winfix works fine for me but you may be right, there was a program I got from microsoft.com that fixed all my system errors and replaced my drwtsn.exe with a more stable version (The very first time I EVER saw this file (drwtsn.exe) I swore it meant Doctor Watson and at first I thought it was a spyware scanner or somethin, or a virus!)
