I'm looking at getting a big (500Gb+) external hard drive for my PC, as my 100Gb media hard drive is getting too full  (It's up to 95Gb as I type this!)

So can anyone recommend me one? It doesn't have to be easy to carry around as it's only going to be on my desk, but I'm choosing external for when I get a new PC so I can get my media anywhere.

Also where would you buy one from?

    Appreciate all input

Why not just get a bigger internal HD? It'll be cheaper and faster (especially if the external is USB). And when you get a new PC you could just swap it into that one. Or leave it in the old one and network the two so you could access the drive from the new one. I'm just really biased against external drives, as they take up too much space for too little function.

I'm using a Seagate 200GB External Hard Drive.

It has the capacity to be portable, but its better as a desk sitter. But its good for those days when I have a large project that needs printing or when my friends need something off my computer.

Seagates are nice... A bit pricey though, but they make 500GB external hard drives.

When I buy my new PC, I'd rather have it under warranty and not have to fiddle about inside, save it for someone who has the time and patience to fix it when it gets broken lol

And I travel between my mums and dads, so an external would allow me to take my media anywhere.

i understand what you're trying to say though, thanks for the input.
