I've had this computer for quite a while now, and I'm not sure what video card I have.
I'm trying to download some games and I can get all other specifics about my computer.
Anyone care to tell me how to find out what video card I have?

    Thanks in advance :)

edit; If I find out that my video card is too old, would a geforce 2 MX200 be enough to play most games?
I'm just looking for something cheap.

"Intel Corporation 82945G Integrated Graphics Controller" is what I get under "Video Card".

On my other computer I have ATI RADEON XPRESS 200 Series, do you think I could use that one instead?

And well, gfx socket, I have no idea what that is :p

Also, it says I have like 500 something mb memory, but that I can only use like 90 mb of it. What's up with that?

the sockets are vga and pci express. without knowing which one you have, you cant choose a gfx card.

Edit #2: sorry, i made a very stupid mistake... its not vga and pci express... its agp and pci express... sorry

Hmm.. the only thing I can find is the VgaSave, where can I find out if it's agp or pci express?

Also, would that "ATI RADEON XPRESS 200 Series" from the other computer work instead of geforce?

it depends on if the socket types match.. i forget how to figure out which socket you have... but vgasave doesnt help because thats a function of the gfx card

Oh well, I'll see if I can figure out my socket.
In the meanwhile, do you know why I have 500 something mb memory, but only 90 mb memory available?
Is there some way to free up the memory?

edit; In that program, PC Wizard 2007, under "Bus Type" it says PCI. Is that the same thing as the socket?

yes, thats exactly what i needed to know. and about the 500/90mb thing, there are some gfx cards that use system memory and it could support up to 500 mb, but only be using 90mb

Edit: what is your budget for a gfx card?

    Great :D

    Well it depends.
If I want to get it this week, before the Roskilde festival, I'm only willing to spend like 60$ on it. That's why "Absolute Multimedia GeForce 2 32MB DDR/AGP/TV-OUT/Retail" seemed like a nice option. But I'm not sure if it's compatible.
Afterwards I'll probably want to spend 100$-150$ at the most.
The cheaper the better, I'm not out for a great card since I don't play much, just something that's enough to be able to play the games.

Did you find out if that Radeon card was compatible? :)

I'm not sure if I understood that, do you want a picture of the card inside the computer?
If so, how do I know what part is my graphic card? :p

edit; Crap, I can't seem to find that card in Swedish online stores, only the AGP or PCI-E ones =/
It takes so long for the card to get here, and the cargo fee will be pretty high :?

i meant a pic of the card outside the computer, but if youre not sure how to take it out, dont risk it. just install the software on the computer that has the gfx card that you want to transfer and tell me what bus type that is.

    It's PCI as well.
    So would it work?
I really hope it does, that would probably mean that I wouldn't have to buy one :p

it sounds like youre good to go then, they use the same port, so all you need to do is install the drivers, turn off your computer, unplug the old one, and put in the new one

Man, I haven't opened the chassis to my computer for like three years :p
Is there only one thing that can be the graphic card, or are there several things that look like it?
Just so I don't remove the wrong stuff.

Oh, and where do I find the drivers? :p
Or is that just another name of the card?
    I'm not good a computer terms ;)

edit; If you're not busy at the moment, could you come to the chat room? It might be easier if I had someone to ask in real time. =)

    Thats easy

All you have to do is right click my computer, click manage, and the go to device manager, then click display adapters that will tell you.

Make sure when you right click on my computer it is not a shortcut.
