Ok so my parents are crazy about my computer and they put this program on my computer called cybersitter.... pretty much is a babysitter that is always on your computer. It's giving me problems though, it doesn't let me go to sites like deviantart or planetrenders sometimes and i was wondering if somebody knew how to get around it... and no i don't plan on doing anything else with this off.

Have you tried using a CGI proxy? Something like youhide.com

yea it does the usual thing which is i tell it to go to the site and it just stops in the middle of loading or sometimes it doesn't even begin to load. I've tried google searching the solutions but i can't seem to find one that works...

If you just want to access some sites, boot into safe-mode w/ networking.

do you honestly think i haven't tried that? i'm 15 and i just recently made my parents unblock google so i could write a report for school. My parents think i'm a p0rn addict who will only watch p0rn... honestly i don't really care for it but my parents don't ever believe me, they didn't want to let me get an ipod for the same reason... i'm all for there protection with parenting but i think they've taken it a little too far...

and really zer0? can you just boot up in safe mode to access sites?

Safe-mode means that your cybersitter program won't load. You could get rid of it completely if you wanted to, but I'm sure your parents would notice it gone ;)

Or you could just uninstall the program. If it only blocks some sites then there shouldn't be any problem. You might have to make a fake program with the same icon to keep them fooled for a while but you can outsmart them.
Remember; you was born into the internet, they had to learn it when it was new. You have the advantage here, use it. :)

o_O talk about helicopter parents... hovering over you constantly. Is this computer yours? If so put a password on it... so your parents can't use it. Then uninstall the program and take control of your computer.

I'm sure he could do that, but as I see it, that's not his goal. I'm assuming that all he wants to do is access some sites that are blocked, maybe get around a few other annoyances caused by that program, all the while still making his parents happy by letting them think he's a good little boy. :)

lol i also wish it was that easy to uninstall but you see cybersitter was made a bunch of learned christians so they made it so that you as a user can't see the files to uninstall it yourself. You need a cd to uninstall it and my dad keeps it at his office but i dont know where at his office... lol and yea i just want to access sites like deviantart every now and again so i can keep making sigs :)

Have you tried showing the deviantart website to your parents?
You could let them explore it for themselves, and so if they're reasonable they'll unblock it

lmao, can't wait to hear what they have to say about you getting a girlfriend :D
You're more likely to find p0rn on google than on DA. Ah well, parents will be parents, you only have a few years left w/ them right? I'm sure you'll live

If only some sites are blocked, try a proxy...then type in google or whatever.

Or if the program works with meta tags(not sure if it does...), have it block things that they don't want you seeing.

Dude, i think you should try and fix abit more than just ur cybersitter problem..
fappin' at 15 is pretty damn normal, and main purpose of the internet is pretty much one big porn site :yup: haha
I'm not going to tell you how you should live, or how your parents should raise their kid..
But seriously, if theyve even blocked google.. thats a pretty big sign that something is wrong.

Well onto your problem, im not sure about the mechanics of this. But with my school firewall, what you can do is type in the ip adress of the site directly and youll get through.
So what you do, goto google and type "ip converter" and its the 2nd down or go here.
Type in the site you wanna goto, it'll spit out an ip and punch that in ur browser...
Not sure if it'll work with ur program though.

Yeah if the cybersitter blocks the URL only then just use dotdenz's above IP work around. I never thought of that but then again I've never had to deal with cybersitter and such.
