You don't need an invite to sign up anymore. GMAILs messanger service is built in, AKA you go onto your gmail and message someone from your inbox page.

YOU DONT NEED AN INVITE TO SIGN UP JUST GO TO THE GMAIL PAGE

    thanks for your generosity though.

Hmm I feel a bit naive, but can someone explain what exactly GMAIL is? It sounds like it's an email service or something...

Gmail refers to Google Mail... which is pretty self-explanatory.

The big thing was that they have 2gigs of space on every account so you have no real need to delete old mail.

the idea was to give alot of space so instead of deleting mail you archive it, I've never heard of a site urging their members not to delete old mail...lol, they must have unlimited bandwhich or w/e its called

Is there an echo in here?

Bandwidth. And they just have a very big, very expensive, and very powerful server. It's google, seriously.

I won't, unless they change the layout of YahooMail, it looks so ugly. Who needs more than 2gb of space for email though, i know people will store files and such on it but you can do that on upload sites, not too difficult.

Well, the only way to get it is via invitation, and the only way to get an invitation is from someone who already has gmail. Once you register you get 100 or so (at least I did, some it is 50) invitations to send out so if you really want it, the service is easy enough to come by. I have heard of people paying for invitations but I would never do that.

never like yahoo... the interface was bad. I may go back if they tidy up their layout.
