I usually sell scratchcards since people are desperate to but them and try to win. With auction you have a chance to sell an item for higher than you paid if it is something a lot of people want but you can also lose out if the starting amount is too high. A baby paintbrush could make you a instant millionaire in the auctions. Tradind post is the same. People will ask to trade if the wishlist is right but it might help you if you have quest items but that would be hard to do.
