Ok this will be my first official guide to start you new users out into the world of hacking with your PSP. First off some of you new users may be wondering what are some of the different types of "hacks" that can be ran on the PSP. Basically to answer this question there are about as many different types of hacks for the PSP as you could possibly think of. Sony would like you to believe that there hand held system is only capable of doing what is specified in there users manual, but that is just simply not true. The range of hacks very for the PSP. Everything from running Emulators, or EMU's for short. Like the SNES or the GameBoy Color. To actually being able to download PSP games off the internet and play them from your memory card. Even things such as running YouTube on your PSP is possible. The very first thing to remember about the PSP is that the only reason that Sony has released newer firmwares or "FW" for short, is to simply try and keep hackers out of there product. Yes they do give you some good things with your updates, like the built in internet browser, and just recently the new PSP camera. But when it comes down to it the reason for the new FW is just simply to keep hackers out of there system. So the main thing to remember is NEVER update your PSP, no matter how good an update may look, if you wish to hack your PSP the best FW to stay with is the original 1.0, or the 1.5. Dont fear though, if you have already updated your PSP and still want to run homebrew or hacks there are ways to downgrade your PSP. Like an upgrade only backwards. The main things to remember from this guide are as follows: 1.Never update your PSP, even with the added features that come with the updates there are still way to obtain these updates on the 1.0 or 1.5 firmware. 2.When downloading a hack make sure it is from a major PSP hacking site, and if it is not, scan each file you download with and anti-virus to check for Trojans. One Trojan and your PSP will be bricked and you'll have to spend 100$ to buy a new mother board. 3.Always read the guides and install instructions that come with your download COMPLETELY, a improper install can also casue a brick but they are few and far between, but make sure you read and now what your doing before hand. 4.If your not sure about and hack, find it on the net and search out other users who have used this hack and can walk you through how to run a certain hack. In essence these are the basic rules that you need to remember before you start hacking your PSP. The next section of the new users guides will talk more about what are some different types of EMU's and simple hacks you can run on your PSP. Easy subjects that wont brick your PSP and you can sink your teeth into before truly and fully hacking your PSP.
Wow, hacking your PSP. I didn´t even knew that was possible. Thx man B) but dcemu.co.uk isn't working for me [...] I search for myself then
since this is a PSP topic, don't mind if i ask some questions here 1) is it able to put a radio function in your PSP? 2) what are some of the funny things that you can do with your PSP? thanks!
Hey all I'm glad you guys enjoyed my first guide, didn't know if you guys would want to know about this or not, I'll make a new thread and post the link here once i create it for any questions that you guys would want to ask me. For now just post anything you want to ask here, I'll also be creating some more guides for more in depth hacks and mods for the PSP. There are as many possibilities for hacks on the PSP as anyone could probably think of. And to answer some of the question that have already been posted here are the answers: -Yes it is possible to install a radio program on your PSP (A.K.A PSP Radio) -And there are many other hacks that can be run on your PSP, here's a small list of the different programs that I have ran and I know work for the PSP. ~Working PSP Hacks~ Running ISO's, which for those of you that don't know what an ISO is, it is an image copy of a PSP game that can be stored on your PSP memory stick and ran as though you had the real game, when in reality it is nothing more than a copy of the game. Running Old School Emulators, and for those of you that don't know what a EMU is, it is like an ISO, but instead of copying a game, it mirrors a entire game system. Some working EMU's that I have ran on my PSP are: SNES / NES / Sega / Playstation1 / GBA / GBC Like I said there are many possibilities for hacks on the PSP, Radio, Custom Firmwares, Homebrew Games, I've even placed a PSP version of Dance Dance Revolution on my PSP. So the list is pretty much endless. Like I said before I will be posting more of my own personal guides later, not until this Thursday though, I have driving school for the next three days so my days will be packed until then, but by the end of the week you guys can except to see more of my personal guides to help you guys out.
