Hello, can you PLEASE Help me??? My Computer keeps turning off on it's own... HOW CAN I FIX THAT?? PLEASE TELL ME!! (ahahaha... good thing i have 2 computers... :maha: I'm usin' it right now, the broken comp is my bro's... )
Can you explain a little more? Does it start and then turns off or it doesn't start at all? My computer did the same a while ago but It was a minor problem
If your CPU/Sockets reach a certain temperature your computer will turn itself off automatically. This can temperature can be changed within your BIOS menu. Check your fan rates or if you really don't know what you're doing, get a computer tech over to your place, they can find the problem within minutes.
Try using a new power socket not tied in to the same circuit. Sometimes multiple rooms use the same breaker so just take it to a friends house to be sure. This will eliminate outside computer problems. Try swaping the power cord that runs from the powersupply to the wall socket. Check all your BIOS settings. In most cases I would say just put it to default and see if you still have the problem but default isn't always good if you've made many changes...but then hopefully you would know what to change in the bios. It's not likely since your computer was running before and isn't now but I have had a few cases where the bios managed to change settings. without me understanding how I did it. Also turn off any over clocking or turbo memory settings. Basically put all settings to a state where the factory knows for a fact that it worked on most hardware configurations. Now check hardware. Download a motherboard/cpu temperature monitor if your MB supports it. For example Asus uses PC Probe: http://www.google.com/search?source=ig& ... gle+Search That will tell you how hot your computer is getting. I would also check to see if all my fans were running. You could try reapplying the thermal contact paste to you cpu if you know how and want to just make sure, though again not the likely cause. Maybe blow the dust out of your computer with canned air, I prefer 20psi with a compressor if you got it. If cleaning and some inspection doesn't yield any results then it could be voltage related. I can't suggest much you can do to test this short of swapping parts. That PC probe monitors voltage but I've never had a problem in that way so i don't know much beyond what the little picture shows as being abnormal. Check all your connections from the power supply to the MB and such. Make sure the power is off. I'd take a look and see if anything was bent or scratched on my MB as well perhaps something is shorting to the case. If it's not hardware then it could be a virus, not likely but if you can remotely turn off your computer I would think it possible to make a joke type virus. Try backing up all your data and doing a clean OS install. If all this fails I'd bet it's hardware somewhere. If you don't know anyone you can ask to help you then I'd see if I was under some sort of hardware warranty either with the computer packager or with the hardware maker...i.e.: Dell or Asus and seek tech support with them. Finally I'd just buy a new bare bones system and xfer my harddrives and such. good luck
