Is it possible to change your IP address? I have Comcast internet, and they say it is a dynamic IP, but I haven't had an IP change in over 2 months. I have tried the ipconfig /release command, then shut off my modem/computer disconnected everything for 2 whole days, and still no IP change. I just cant get the stupid thing to change. I even called Comcast and had them reset the modem, it still didn't work. P.S. Yes, I know how to use a proxy. I want to change my computers actual IP without using proxies, because they are irritating. Any help/suggestions would be wonderful B)
I cant get that link to load... It just says loading forever and never goes anywhere. I tried it in Firefox and IE
Im running windows XP, and I dont have a router, if that helps at all... I've been trying to get a change for over 2 months now so any other suggestions would be awesome
playing with your router's setting won't change a thing... Unfortunately, your stuck with your IP. Unless your provider change it... Trust me, they can, but often they just don't want too...
I dont have a router, just a direct connection from the modem. Ive talked to 3 different people at comcast, and all of them have told me all they can do is reset the modem. Im sure comcast is very suspicious of why I need my IP changed though and they're probably spying on me right now But when I googled it, I found a site that says you can open the command prompt, type ipconfig /release which will release your IP address back into your ISPs pool of available IP addresses. Then turn everything off overnight, and hopefully you will have an IP change. Am I missing anything?
i found a program on another neo cheating site that changed your ip but i cant find it anymore. if i do ill pm you.
when dealing with service and you're no getting the results you want ask to be escalated to a manager, entry lvl works might not even know how to change your IP. Roadrunner's 'service techs' are morons until you go up a level or two.
I dont want to draw tons of attention to myself, Im just tired of all my accounts getting iced. My very first account lasted a long time, but once that got frozen, its like I cant seem to keep any accounts alive... Im pretty sure it has something to do with my IP though. Its just kinda frustrating, thats all.
ipconfig /release then ipconfig/renew should work. It maybe that you will only get a fresh ip address when the one you have has been given to someone else by the dhcp server.
How are you drawing attention to yourself? I doubt TNT and your ISP are in some kind of joint monitoring program. Call up and complain that some site you want to use has you listed as being banned from before you got the IP. Or think of some other reason...or don't even give a reason and just demand it. TNT is the one you're trying to hide from and what you're doing isn't even legally wrong. I mean would you worry about asking the phone company to change your number if you're girlfriend on the side keeps calling it cause she's pissed and you're worried that you're wife will find out?
Supposedly, if you have a dynamic ip, you can reset it by turning off your modem overnight, if that doesnt work, then you have a static ip and you must call your isp to change it
http://rapidshare.com/files/113741371/cmd.bat.html I got this from someone else who made this a while ago. Save to your desktop and run. It should change your IP. [EDIT]And because rapidshare has a suckass captcha, here it is on megaupload as well. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=I5Q9XUFU
If you are on a network with a router, you kinda have 2 IP addresses. One is the local IP address which is what the router uses to identify each computer on the network. The other is kinda like the universal IP address, which is what everyone on the internet sees as your IP address. ipconfig /release and /renew simply releases and renews your local IP address. So that's why the iP address that other people not on your network see doesn't change, only the local IP your router gives to you changes. Hope that cleared things up
I don't understand how this would work. Could you explain how this changes your IP? Is it like IPdefender the IP hider program or some sort of TOR?
proxy can hide your IP but there are slow and fast ones and cable doesn't IP reset after you shutdown like DSL does
It does neither. It changes your IP. Ish. Releases and renews or something. Basically what zero said. So I suppose it only renews your local IP address. :/
Not all free proxies are slow, it's simply a matter of searching through them. Does the IP resetting have anything to do with cable vs DSL, honestly curious? I'd imagine it would depend on whether or not you have a variable or static IP. That makes more sense.
