So ever since I bought my laptop I haven't really ahd the decency to keep internet explorer. Today I wanted to play a few games of quest with myself, but after it gets to the main page where it has the door to create game, it's a blank space with background music but it says "done" at the bottom left.

It lags like crazy. I'm not going to use it all the time but I just want to improve its performance so it won't be so annoying when I do need it.

Also, when I go into the Program's list, there are so many of them I have no idea what it means and what they do and i'm scared to remove them. If anyone wants I can provide a screenshot for you and maybe someone can tell me what's actually useful.

Main browser is firefox. I only want to use IE because there is a different set of cookies different from firefox so I can log on to two accounts at once.

Well I saw that already given the fact I was talking to Asphodan on that thread. But the reason I made this is because this approach won't work for me.

I changed the file directory and vista tells me it doesn't recognize the path.

You can still try some other browsers like Opera or Safari i guess?

To delete junk files in your computer, search "system optimizer" or "ccleaner" would definitely help you out

To minimize the programs working in the background, please check MSCONFIG
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MSConfig

As for what to delete or what to keep, you got to have some knowledge
to distinguish which programs are necessary for the windows to run ...
i suggest you googling them , or just asking around , borrowing a book or something.
