ok, i'm new to program designing and in the mean time while i wait to get a new pc, i am planing on starting to design on my mac. so i have a few questions. any answer are appreciated :)

    1. What languages work on macs?
    2. Any good place to start to learn?

any other tips or anything reqarding this is appreciated. Also, i do know HTML, CSS, PHP, and JAVASCRIPT, so imagine that some of that will carry over some what into designing programs. Thanks everyone for any help :)

i'd suggest learning the basics before you just jump into anything more advanced (java) start with html, or xhtml.. then work in some css.

Yeah... That doesn't help with actual programming...

Get a Java book to learn the basics. Try to avoid programming classes if you can, they are generally just awful. After learning the basics, go over to the internet (esp java.sun.com) to look for tutorials on more advanced topics.
