    Internet Speed

I find that if you press ctrl+alt+delete and go to "Processes" and just end anything that says administrator next to it EXCEPT iexplore and explorer, my computer runs quicker

Holy crap that increased my speed drastically. But now all my other crap aren't showing up. Oh well not like I use it +rep for you.

    Re: Internet Speed

I'm sorry but I don't see anything about administrator.. All I see are something like system and user.. Is that the one which you're referring to? I'm running on Windows XP Home Edition..

    Re: Internet Speed

It says administrator on mine because the user name is administrator.
It might be different to yours

If you look through, and find explorer.exe, it will say your User Name next to it. You can end all processes next to whatever your user name is, but dont end explorer, as it will wipe your desktop and all your shortcuts (they re-appear if you log off and on or restart)

I usually close everything except FireFox.exe (Iexplore if your using IE), WgaTray and TaskMngr

Just close EVERYTHING, even the downloads page after the download starts. I went from an average of 450kbp/s to 600kbp/s

What about system? Shall I close them too? I'm just afraid that it may cause my compute to crash.. I just got my new computer about 3 weeks ago.. Shall I close system? What about local service and network service.. SHall I close them too? By the way, I'm wondering, what has it got to do with the internet getting faster? I mean, all these programs that are running is only for computer purpose not internet right? I'm sorry I'm not really good in technical aspects..

You can ONLY close ones with the user name next to it

If you try and end any SYSTEM, LOCAL SERVICE, NETWORK SERVIE etc it says "This operation could not be completed - Access is denied"

I don't see any user name on it.. Though under the user name tab I do see "user" and that's it.. My processor is 3/4 filled will system, local service and network application programs and files.. So do I delete the one with the "user" under the user name tab?

Ack, by user I ment whatever your XP account is called, mine is called ADMINISTRATOR, yours could be that or something else. You can check what your XP account user name is by looking for the process "Explorer.exe" (which I believe everyone has) and seeing what it says under "User Name". Since next to mine it says ADMINISTRATOR, I can end anything that is under the name ADMINISTRATOR.

Lol no problem, it took me hours to explain this to my other friend over MSN xD

Yes, you can end anything that is in your XP user name

Don't end explorer, wgatray (if you have that one), iexplore/firefox (depends on weather you use IE or FF) or tskmngr

also try this. ctrl-alt-del, then click proscesses. right click on iexplore. select "set priority". set it to HIGH. NOT REALTIME. realtime will freeze your computer when you close the window.
