I was reading about the IPhone and its impending release in June for the US. I'm just wondering if anyone knows anything about the sort of phone plans which would be associated with the IPhone?

From my understanding, you would have to purchase data plans as regular phone plans would not be compatible? Anyone have a link to some more information?

In a deal concluded from secretive discussions beginning in February 2005, Cingular Wireless will be the exclusive carrier of the iPhone in the United States and will remain so until 2009.[28] The iPhone may be purchased only with a two-year service plan with Cingular.[29]

Do you know if a service plan is a data plan? Or a regular phone plan?

More than likely you could get both as thats how it normally is. From Apple's previous history you will almost certainly have to buy songs at $1 A piece but syncing with your itunes library is a definite possibility.

Really? Because I know for Blackberry phones in Canada, you can only use it with a data plan. And in Canada, data plans are ridiculously expensive, which is what prompted me to not get a Blackberry. I really hope IPhone is accessible through regular wireless plans.

It doesnt look to me like its set up like a Mobile PC (Blackberry style) although I could have read the article wrong.

For Example the enV phone is also usable as a mobile PC but you can get it on a normal phone plan....

Wireless Internet Plans are like 5/Month on most phones and 45/Month for Laptops (For the Broadband Cards)

    Helpfull?

I guess we'll just have to wait and see ;)

    The Iphone is crazy.
Supposedly it is going for 600$ and then the plan would be 200$ a month. That is just crazy in my opinion.

200 a month is INSANE! There is no way normal people could afford that, it's almost like financing a second car...

So I heard from my friend who works at Telus that IPhone won't be out in Canada for a while :<

It's going to be a horrible phone, they really screwed up on it.

Edge over 3G was a huge mistake. no expansion slot, 5 hour talk time? Pathetic. 2MP camera? New phones have 3+MP cameras. To top it off, it has no removable battery, so when it dies you have to send the phone in. Besides that, it's way too expensive for the piece of garbage you're getting. Totally not worth it.

How does your friend have one when it's not even released yet?

Ebay will not sell any working IPhones. The phone itself is still in its production and tweaking stages.
