Do not get it!...bacause the touch screen wares VErY easy and it is incredibubally big...and its only 8gigs for 400 dollars...i have a friend who has one and he really wishes that he dident buy this brick! but get the ipod classic. it comes with 80gigs for 250dollars wich is a much better in price as much as many other factors and the classic is so much smaller and you can fit it in your pocket very easily. its alot more durable so it will not break easily. so you will get more bang for your buck!

Yeah, I had one...hated it...definitely not worth the price.. Screen is SOO easy to break, and I just think it's a ridiculous rip-off. I would never buy one...lol I got mine from a friend of mine that works for Apple..
    BUT:
For me the Video was the best...iPod Classic is cheaper- but, I don't really fancy it.

its 399 for the 16 gig.... right? not the 8 gig.

Anyways, its a cool piece of tech. I have an Iphone, its awesome. I would rather get another one then get a touch. wifi browsing is cool tho on an ipod.

Uhm actually, the 16g iPod Touch is smaller than both the 80g and 160g classics. And the 8g touches are only 300, not 400. And if you take care of it, you won't have to worry about the screen messing up or something.

I bought one, and I really like it. I just wish it had more storage...

Buy an iPhone instead, download jailbreak software and be able to use it without having to sign up with AT&T.
Of course you'll ruin your warranty, but as far as I can tell, you can also uninstall the jailbreak and return it into it's original state. If this isn't enough, throw it away and tell your insurance company it got stolen :p
I'm getting one as soon as they're coming to Sweden and it's sure that teh jailbreak works for European iPhones as well. :)

edit: I've lost the link to the iPhone dev team wiki, anyone have it?

I have heard that everytime you connect your iPhone to iTunes it deletes the jailbreak thingy.

Back to the iPod touch..My view is that you may aswell just get an old one much cheaper. If you're not buying it then go ahead and get one.

Nope, only if you install the new updates it will mess up the jailbreak.
But you can still downgrade your phone and reinstall the jailbreak if you accidently do this. =)

I'm planning to buy one next week...the only thing I don't like about it is the 16Gb, but anyway, I have a 30Gb video and I use like 5 Gb of it or something.

It's pretty cool for me, and as Ang said, it can be very durable depending on how you treat it.

I want a iPhone so bad!
My friend has one and she loves it. Such a awesome phone.
PS. If you take care of it, it won't break. Just like everything else.

iPhone isn't available in Mexico, so I'd be ok with an iPod touch and my LG Prada as a phone

It's a horrible ripoff, 8 gigs for the price of a 30 gig iPod vid. So what if there's a touch screen and fancy features >.<

It does seem really cool. I have a touch screen phone and it's really annoying at times.. I touch the wrong part.. random things/open.. urgh. But these days, it's like people are getting iPods just for the name sake.. like yay Apple product xD

    I have a ipod touch.
I love it. I can pretty much access MSN or internet anywhere I go, because I live in the city and theirs wifi everywhere.
Yes, its easy to break. Don't buy it if your one of those poeple who drop everything.

I still wouldn't get an iPhone or an iPod Touch. Theres so many cheap alternatives, especially for the iPhone. I believe it's a waste of money, and Apple can control everything you do with it...meaning voided warranty if you download things, and other things that were said on this board.
Save about 200 - 400 dollars and find a cheaper alternative phone that plays music. There are a lot out there (Google to find the best one.)
