Without having to format the whole drive? because my system cannot run SP stable, I've got 2000 to put on it instead, so i was wondering if it will let me just install 2000 and get rid of XP itself, or do i have to format everything?

    Cheers,

    ~Andy

I'm pretty sure you have to format everything, I don't think just putting the Windows 2k CD in will do anything.
Or just go get Vista, hahaha...Not.

dokifire... you could do the same thing.

You could try to partition your hard drive and install a new OS there, but in most cases i've seen, if you install an OS without removing or formatting your hard disk, you'll wind up with 2 OS's causing a lot of problems.

Thanks all, in the end i just installed it on my main over Windows ME and hoped that it wouldn't go too badly, and it seems to be working alright so far, although a lot of the software i thought would be compatible isnt :(

Gonna try Visual Studio 2005 when my beans are cooked :p

You don't need to change OS for that, just run the game in combability mode.

no... unfortunately you cannot downgrade a windows operating system... no matter how hard you try..... the only way to achieve what you want to do is to copy or backup all of your important files, reinstall the os, and load all of your data back on

If anything go back to XP SP1 do not go back to 2000 thats probably one of the worst OS's out. ;)

I agree with Stonage. I know you can only play Halo on service pack one. (or used to only be able to) Service pack 2 didn't support it for soem reason.

Thanks for all the replies, I've been running win2k for a couple of days now and it seems to run a lot faster then ME, and a lot faster that XP, which barely ran at all :D

If you want to game then win2k blows.

If you just want to browse the internet and play neo use linux.

I've tried it and failed countless times with Win 98 over Win XP, because I don't need the smooth graphics and 98 runs faster on my low-RAM. :x
