starting to be able to read it a bit better. maybe a will put up a site some day. Are you (x) html literate. ( decides just about everything you see on this site but rather the actual coding.)

Well I am just startign html and also I statrted php yesterday and alerday made an ab list site in php. I just learn't by online tutoirals. I would recomend you to get wamp and use it to set up a test website becasue it will be alot faster then having a host.

wamp is a windows installer of apche mysql and php. THis will allow you to make your computer a server. And also you can make html and php sites and veiw them in firefox like you owuld if you actually had a domain. That will enable you to quickly make chnages to your pages

Html is great for basic sites, but you will need PHP and Java if you want to do anything half decent with a website. Start with baby steps, begin with HTML and work your way up.

The book I have tells me about php and java as well and even about making a quick game on your site and more. I'm happy the book was free ( a free e-book). But i agree with what you are saying about the basics and more experienced. I just want to learn the language I have programs to do all the work :).

you don't need a book to learn html/css...just go to http://www.w3schools.com and open the source page of any website...

I am just use to reading books. I did check out the site and bookmarked it. Thanks for that info. But I got the book because my internet usually will disconnect before I could do anything so instead I hurried and got I book. I did use to go to tutorial sites but non-like that one.But my internet is better now..its my antivirus program messing with it.

I so agree on that one.

btw, for the ones that are learning php, this will get you started.
    http://nl3.php.net/manual/en/tutorial.php
Here they show some simple stuff to get started. More complex stuff you can find everywhere on the internet. w3schools has a manual on PHP as well, but its not that good imo.

This is good website for starters : http://www.lissaexplains.com
it's where I learned html many many years ago. It also helps to check out the source codes of sites regularly and try to learn from them.

If you want to make web pages you should practice (start with the basics, look at other people's source codes to see how they manage a certain feature, etc) but a good book would definitely help a lot... I'm trying to remember............ oh HTML for the World Wide Web (includes XHTML and CSS) by Elizabeth Castro is one of the best books on the subject. If you also want clear easy help on the web then lissaexplains is really useful.

The best way to learn html is just practice.
Just rip the source code from a site you like, and check how they've done that.

Very true. That's what I did too. But you will need to learn the basics first.
