not too sure on the allowance of this topic as you're seeking help to do something illegal

I shall leave it open though, and monitor it very carefully.

as your limewire wont download or your itunes wont download? if it's limewire, sorry you're not allowed to discuss that here. If it's itunes, just uninstall both and reinstall them.

I thought Limewire was only illegal if you were SHARING the song, which is a setting on Limewire. If you download something from limewire, it's perfectly fine. If it wasn't, there is no way Limewire would still be in buisness.

    Is this correct?

No its not. It's only considered illegal if its covered by a copyright law or DRM. Limewire itself is completely legal and the sharing of free media is completely legal. If I draw a picture on MSpaint and share it on Limewire I'm doing nothing illegal. If a friend of mine creates a trance set and puts it on limewire and shares it and I download it I am doing nothing illegal.

There is no law in and country that I know of which prevents Peer to Peer interaction in sharing of files that are not covered by DRM or copyright laws.

There are still some sites that let you download legal music for free...it's not always illegal. Anyways, some states, countries, have different laws on this...

No states and no countries have different laws on it. Most DRM, copyright and patent laws are global. Even in African countries where they run email scams and the like out of and create knock off merchandise the laws still exist.

I guess if you wanna get into symantics then yes different countries and states would have differing laws on how exactly illegal it is or how they define it but the bottom line is it's illegal.

Aren't most of the things people usually download off limewire copyright protected though?

Without a doubt 99.9% of all its traffic is the sharing of copyrighted media but the point is that the programme itself is completely legal.

There are some solutions for this problem,
    check limewire.com first

Another option is buying Limewire Pro, but that's expensive

I suggest sticking with either itunes or limewire...
If you are on a Mac:
-Go to Library>Application support>limewire>check if there are any files with proxies or ports in them, if so they could be stopping you from downloading.

    It's a secret ^^ :) sorry but I can't incriminate myself (but I'm fairly sure what I do isn't illegal).
