my one month old HP desktop comp is startin to act all weird getting these system errors for some reason.. it's shut down automatically once already saying it needed to do so because there was a serious threat to my windows and needed to be shut down and twice when i've shut it down and rebooted it, i get this blank screen where I couldnt do anything and needed to system restore... i dont download any crap onto my pc...only programs from this site and a couple others which I know are trusted and am usually extremely carefull with sites i go to. my kaspersky's isnt findin any viruses or threats so are there any free online scanners that could help? the only thign i've been downloading lately are .mpeg .mpg .wmv files to put on my ipod...i was pretty sure none of those could be harmfull
You can always try Hijack this to look for malicious programs when there running Or try Avast home edition for anti virus. Or any others http://www.filehippo.com
I used this one quite a bit.. although becuase of my screwy computer, it wasn't working at all.. they have a newer version up there (it's a smaller link under the big button).. that one DID work but when I went to go clean it, nothing happened? It might have been my computer, but since they said it was new, it could have been a bug in the system. but it's definitely worth a try.
I've had problems with it before myself but usually it was do to a configuration mismatch. It's working for me currently. There are two options active x and java....iirc. I use the java one and you need to make sure your Java is updated. Also I'm using Firefox with no script so I have it allowed.
meh it works well enough, I just formated my hard drive and don't have the desire to find, download the torrent, wait for download, install, crack, setup and run it when it really doesn't do any more then what I have now. I've yet to get a virus, and just a couple warnings using ESET NOD32 with Trend Housecall as a online confirmation. It could be my internet habits as well as Firefox + No Script + No Flash + Ad Block and a hardware firewall + windows firewall but either way I clean so it works. Also it was mentioned before but Hijackthis is really nice. the point of all that was that I find that program redundant...as I do Ad-Aware now, in the day it was great, but the competition has caught up also possible if you remove a necessary system file, I suggest a backup + clean install either way as you quickest sure fix
