lol look at the NC mall they want you to pay. 1USD = 100NC points so they want tell us we cant sell anything and neopets is free ugh i dont think neopets will be free in the next few years. then they will have no auction that are good or etc. so whats the problem with selling nps :O
99% of the site is free. Only the few items in the NC mall aren't and there isn't anything there you can't get elsewhere, like clothes and backgrounds. If people started selling np, then it would give certain people unfair advantages over others, especially kids. And it pretty much is designed for children.
it was originally designed for something for college students to do when they werent studying. But the focus has definately moved on to children in recent years
Nothing you buy in the mall will give you any advantage over everyone else and plus, those things expire.

I can't understand what TNT was thinking when introducing the NC mall and members accounts. You pay money to get no real advantage over the other players... just makes no sense to me.
Yeah, I've never really understood the point of having a premium account. I don't think it costs that much, but it doesn't add much either. And the mall is pointless. I can't figure out why people are even using it. They'll probably add more to it later, stuff you can't buy with nps, so they actually make some money on it.
Many "free" online games (esp. mmorpgs) have shops in which they sell stuff like clothes and weapons. I've read that they earn more that way than with a monthly fee, because there are always people willed to pay. (even a lot more than they would have with a monthly fee) I don't care if there's a nc mall or not, because I am not forced to buy this stuff. TNT has to pay for the servers and wants to make profit, and as long as most parts of neopets remains free, that's fine with me.
Many games have items for aesthetics, but most of those games also include either a) xp bonus coupons b) dont lose xp on death c)your staring at your character in a 3d world. Where every player sees your avatar and thats you. On neopets people don't necessarily even look at your pets.
all in all, just dont buy anything and if you are just dying to buy something, go to the neofriends blackmarket :lol:

I HIGHLY doubt Neo makes anywhere close a million in net profits. The monthly cost of running the site must be huge, not to mention the cost of the programmers, artists, writers, designers, mods, admins, lawyer(s), agencies, rent, utilities, and so on. There's only about 50k people on at any time, so the ads don't pull in in all the revenue needed. So yeah, the NC mall sucks, but I understand why it's there.
Does anyone know anything about the limited edition part of the mall? I don't get what the point of having limited edition stuff is if you can't sell or trade anything.
LOL, that's false, Stephen. Neopets is for everyone...old and young, employed and unemployed. Even though I don't know why people still play it.... Anyway, they basically don't want other people making money from their site. That's why it's against the rules.
Look at it from a business point of view. People give you money. You give them NOTHING in return. Seems like a good deal, no? TNT gets mad at us for selling because it takes away from their own profit. People who buy NP on sites like this get something that's actually useful. And a better deal than the crap they sell.
I honestly refuse to pay real cash for cartoon clothes. Somethings are worth real cash but this is one thing I refuse to buy, they really arent worth the amount I would be shelling out in cash. Ive gotten wearable stuff in random events Ill leave it that way. lol
