So, it's time to change the machine. I've been using this one for 8 years now. After 4 video cards, 3 power supply, 1 board and 2 HDD, it's over. :arf: So it pretty much goes like this: Asus P5K SE Intel® Core™2 Duo Desktop Processor E8400 SAPPHIRE HD 4850 512MB GDDR3 PCI-E HAUPPAUGE 1062 WINTV-PVR 150 MCE PCI With remote Raidmax 450W power supply LG GSA-H55L Super-Multi Security DVD ReWriter WD HDD 250G SATA2 16M Standard black case I think that's all... I had a budget of 1000$ CAD for this computer and the total cost including tax is 937$. This pc will be use with a dual monitor setup (already using it) mainly for job, but I should get great performance with games. Anyway, let me know what you think of this, even if it's bad. If I should change something, say it too.
Not bad, I wish I could build my own comp but my budget is kinda limited... Gotta buy a TV first =D So thats -$1000 already... I'll just stick to my laptop.. *presses submit* *says to himself* Stupid fking Vaio, Keyboards all messed up cause my bro spilled orange juice all over it, SD card reader is broken...., argh.. ._. I though I pressed submit.... >_>
Looks nice, but I would only estimate the cost to be about $500. Go around Newegg and you can find loads of other products w/ better specs and for cheaper prices. With a $1k budget, you can go quad-core, 8 gb DDR3 ram, etc.
Show me where you're buying your parts !!! the cpu alone is $219.99 the video card $207.99 the tv-tuner 100$ the board 206$ 2gb ram around 80$ all in canada, canadian price Futhermore, I hate dealing with the handling and shipping, so buying in the US is a big no-no for me. And the custom taxes to import stuff like this is just killing here.
I already told you: Newegg.com same cpu: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6819115037 2 gb RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6820231044 same graphics card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814102747 Honestly, you can get much cheaper alternatives. Just look around newegg and you'll be able to find the perfect parts for you
Congrats on getting a new system! I'm sitting here with a Dell... Boring. It's one of those rebuilds that have crappy RAM. I can't complain too much because it was free. But still, 256MB of RAM doesn't cut it.
Oops.... reading to fast I guess !!! Seriously, they have some killer price but Does Newegg.com ship internationally? Newegg.com does not currently ship internationally; we only deliver to locations within the United States and to Puerto Rico. After seeing this, I can tell that we're getting screwed here. The price I gave earlier are really the best I can find in canada... And I'm far from a newbie when it comes to hardware/pc Anyway, thanks for the link
I've buy from ebay in the past but like I said, I hate dealing with handling/shipping. After spending hours yesterday to find better deal locally, I've place the order for the pc and will get it in 5 days. Yeah baby !
I wished I could buy or build another desktop... I've been using mine for 6 years now. Just a question... what do you usually do in that system. Well, I used mine for editing some of my home videos... But I guess needs an upgrade to minimize some of system crash every now and then.
Gaming, since my xbox360 is pretty much dead meat, 3d modeling, video editing, sound editing, programming, actually, everything a computer is suppose to be use to do.
New system in !!! And it's a blast (from my previous amd xp 1700+ :arf: ) I didn't had much time to play around with it since I ran into a big problem right at the beginning. Had to reinstall windows about 8 times, tried linux live-cd... Everytime, windows was installing right, but as soon as I was trying to install/update a driver, the system locked up. Tried with different setting each time. On the last install, I plugged in the lan cable and SURPRISE, the installation stopped in the middle. After a bit of googling, I found the problem: integrated lan. A lot of people had some problem with the atheros/attantic drivers for gb lan. So I ended up taking my old d-link 10/100 card and disabling the onboard lan. Now, everything is running smoothly and I'm damn happy. Right now, I'm installing all the usual stuff (And there's quite alot to install ). At last, I'll be able to run mvs.net normally and be able to compile a program within an acceptable range of time That's about it... I'll try to run the Pi benchmark from zero's thread to see what this system really can do...
