Are you going to make an new computer to revolve around the new tecnology that is comming out? I am spending $1000 on upgrading my computer so I can use PCI-Express. My computer will be awsome. If you need help building a computer message me and I can always help. I am buying a new processer, mother board, and video card. I all ready have surround sound speakers with a sub-woofer.

    Stuff I am getting:
    Video Card - http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... CatId=2306

    Mother Board - http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... CatId=2320

    Processer - http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... CatId=2329

PCI-E is not new at all. It has been around for a little while now.

I already have a PCI-E card, 7600GT but I plan to upgrade to a DX10 compatible card once they lower in price.

Edit: If your going to spend that much on a GFX Card get a 8800GT with DX10.

No, pci express is not new, no it does not double the graphics power.

No, upgrading everything just to get pci express will not make your computer awsome.

Pci Express against the standard slot gets a boost of 5% at the best. Its the same card, pci express just has higher bandwith which is currently unused.

Sure, if I had a choice I would use express, but there is really no point going out of your way to get it.

Is there a particular reason you are getting a single card sli? Every single one I have seen costs far more than two seperate video cards and is either noisier or not as powerful. Not to mention that compared to the 8xxx series, that card will be junk as it may not be fully dx10 compatable.

There is no point going sli just to say I have two video cards when a single one will be faster

Finally, currently intel processors are both cheaper and faster and work with all games. Sli isnt universal.

I agree with everything you said ryan except one thing.

SLI is not worth the power you should get a single slot card like the 8800 and change your processor.

I do disagree on Intel being faster and cheaper.

AMD has been tested along side Intel many times with AMD usually on top.

As far as price goes AMD chips are very cheap now compared to a half a year ago.

Lastly, What power supply do you have? Your going to need around a 500w power supply for that system.

In the past, yes but amd is really taking a hit on the dual and quad core processors. Its 4x4 is more expensive and performs much worse than intels single 4 core processors.

On the mid range, intels E6xxx series could outperform amd dual cores costing substantially more. I believe that the E6600 in particular was good value.

Intel is moving to 4 cores much faster than AMD will be. Overall, intel is in a much better position because it has the fabs and money to really kick ass. They are moving to a 45nm process long before amd can, and I am sure after trailing after amd for a while, they are really going to be step it up.

Yes AMD is a little behind when it comes to the 4x processors but in time I think they will recover and have the overall advantage over Intel again.

If not then I shall go back to Intel. The fight for the highest benchmarks begins. :D

I won't change to PCI express for at least 2 years, I'm currently running an ATI 9600XT AIW and I'm loving it.... Sometimes, new does not mean more powerfull.... Only got 128 mb on my card and I can still beat some 256 mb without problem...
like the new ALL-IN-WONDER 2006 AGP, it suck so much....
and just for fun, comparison between an ATI X800 XL AGP and PCIE

You dont need that good of a card to play WoW I'm not sure about Gothic 3.

Build your own computer if you think you can figure it out its a lot cheaper.
