Does anyone know how to extract a custom shape that you made from photoshop? I can't find the one I made anywhere. I want to put it on disk so when my computer crashes, I still have it.

What do you mean by "extract a custom shape"? Do you mean that you made a selection and you want to save the selection?

Yeah, but I'm not sure what you mean by a "shape". Do you mean a layer, selection, image, brush, etc?

Well Make the shape a solid black color and put it on a white background. Then save it as an image. Then whenever you want to use it again, use the magic wand tool to extract the shape from the image and boom you have your shape to use again... Or if you want to get fancy you can export the shape as a custom shape but that would take a while for me to put into directions easy enough for you to understand.

EDIT: PS Next time a post like this goes into the Graphics and Art forum. K thx.

It is a custom shape. That is what I'm trying to extract from the Photoshop program to put onto disk.

Did you try the first method I said? Cause that will work unless your shape has various opacities and such...

Actually.. just load up a new photoshop file with a transparent background... Put your shape into it and then save the psd file. And then you can put the psd file on the disk

I want to save the shape. Not a picture of the shape.

Putting it in a .psd file does not work.

I still don't understand what you mean by a "shape". Are you talking about a selection?

you can copy and paste the file. It should be in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop (version)\Presets\Custom Shapes. You just copy and paste that wherever you want, then burn the CD like you would with any other data. Hope this helps :)

Sigh... Put a picture of the shape in the psd file and then you have the shape with you.. If you want to use it again, then open up the psd use ctrl+click on the layer to load up the selection and you have your shape to use again. Easiest way to do it.
