It just seems to be new ways to advertise. The real Stock market, theatre tickets -_- You don't get the Avatar or Sidebar automatically. The portal is cluttered as hell. Bit crap really ^-^
but, but, you get extra 200np prizes in your mail sometimes! thats totally worth it, right? right? everything on neo is just new ways to advertise. thats what you get for letting a scientologist take over your company.
Are there seriously more downsides than good when getting Premium? Because I've been thinking for a long time if I should get it.
^-^ You get a scratch card every Friday but as soon as premium gets older those items will become worthless. You get more random events but half the time it's A chia has walked past... Um you get you own email address but everyone already has their own email. You have to refer people to get the sidebar and avatar. The layout is twice as hard as the usual layout and they have adverts still but they are all over the middle of your main page instead of at the top! Finding it hard to get one plus at the moment.
Re: ^-^ I'd like to know what you mean by the ads are in the middle of the page? I've been premium for quite a while now and pretty much the only reason I stay premi is because I can't stand ads. I don't get anything when I'm on neopets so I'm wondering what you're talking about.
I love premium =) I love the portal mode which you can see items in your inventory.... I love the SSW.... I love the short-cut dailies panel at the top.... I love the stats bar which tells you your main pets stats/np on hand/np in bank/np in shop till... I love that I don't have to see any ads, and I really do have a noticeable increase of random events =) I don't think premium is even that expensive, even when converted to Thai baht (my currency) quite affordable, actually. Only 2-3 hundred. There are also bad things about it though, but it's WAY better than the normal neopets (><'') I won't ever go back to the normal thing^^

^^ That stupid stock market (real not neo) thing in the middle and the movie tickets generator. Neo will make money of that the same as adverts no doubt more -_-
I think premium is worth it, regardless of any ads, or whatever. It's worth it for the people. The premium boards are amazing- many fewer spammers, and it's a much smaller community- you see the same people, and you can form lasting friendships. As to your other points: 1) It is not a new way to advertise. THERE ARE NO ADVERTISEMENTS WITH PREMIUM. 2) Of course you don't get the avatar or sidebar automatically- if you did, they wouldn't be sought after, they'd be too easy. You don't get BGC or SUAP automatically either- hence why people want them more. Just because it takes work to get the avatar/sidebar doesn't mean it's a downside to premium. 3) "as soon as premium gets older" Uhm, excuse me, but premium has been around for at least 3 years (probably more). Premium is "old". The items have not depreciated. If you're so concerned about them going down in value in the future- sell them now! 4) Random events are just that. RANDOM. It just so happened that yours, in your short time of premium, haven't been very advantageous- but the more you have, the better your /chance/ is of getting something rare- Premium doesn't make more rare item SHHs, just gives you more of them, thus increasing the likelihood of getting one. 5) Before I knew of premium, I would have died in order to get an e-mail at neomail.com! That's so cool! It's just a nice thing to have, if you really enjoy the site. Not to mention it makes e-mailing neofriends easier- you don't have to give out a personal e-mail that might have your last name in it, or something. 6) The layout is not more difficult. Every layout is difficult when you're not used to it. Though you may not remember, you probably thought the microsoft operating system was difficult to maneuver, only because you haven't been exposed to it. Haven't you noticed the sharp decrease in complaints about the new layout being impractical? That's because the users figured it out. 7) Plusses- The boards, as I mentioned. The SSW. No ads on any pages. Portal mode. I could go on. Look, my point is this- you seem to be extremely cynical about Neopets ads- about them charging for things. Well duh! In the /real/ world, that's how life is. Things aren't free. A site as big as Neopets costs real money. They have to get that real money some how. Because people like you quit premium, they have to put ads on the site and charge for premium. Ahem. I don't mean to insult or offend you, and I apologize if you feel that way. I'm also sorry if I put any incorrect facts- let me know. I haven't had on premium in a while, but I asked a friend who has it, so it should be mostly correct. I am simply trying to explain to you why I think premium is worth it, and refute your reasons as to why it is not. I welcome your response.
^^ I suppose if you like certain things like the email it's better I just wouldn't want to trade my MSN account to a neopets one because of the inconvenience and I like MSN better. I get what your saying about the avatar/sidebar but I think people having to be premium for a set amount of time would be better than making people advertise it just seems like your paying for a service and then you become their advertiser. That stupid stock market thing really bugged me because of their whole "No more adverts!" and it's basically hidden adverts -_- I'm paying they shouldn't be there at all. I think they should edit the layout of the dailies as well because that would be a useful sidebar. I'm sticking to these points because I personally just don't like them. On the other hand I will try the boards as I only briefly browsed them and I think the whole tight knit community thing is cool. I also like (which I forgot to put) The super shop wiz, saves a hell of a lot of time posting the same item 3 times to get the lowest price. If they keep releasing new items then the items will be cool but if they don't the prices of the items will obviously deflate which is sucky xD. I guess my layout point is just an initial thing so I will see how it is in a weeks time. I'm not insulted by what you say ^-^ I like people voicing their opinions and if I liked some of the extras as much as you then I would see premium as a spectacular thing at the moment though initially I'm a bit "whatever".

Now, to the actual post: It turns out my friend was not such a reliable source. I see what you mean about the stock market/movie ticket thing. Though it can be of convenience (for people who want to use neopets as their permanent homepage, as opposed to those who would use Yahoo or something to check movie times), I realize what you mean about it being more advertising. :/ It seems unfortunate that they must resort to that even on premium. And obviously, the layout and its style is each persons opinion- I don't really dislike it, but it's perfectly cool if you do. Perhaps you should e-mail/call TNT to explain your problems with it. They seem to be much more friendly/wanting to listen to premium members' problems- obviously because you're paying them. I think it would be worthwhile to ask them if they could implement something that would allow you to remove the stock/movie items, and customize the dailies layout. I'm no good at coding full websites, but I can't imagine it'd be too hard, and it seems like something many people would enjoy having. Again, a lot of this is a matter of opinion, so I could sit here for hours and tell you that the neomail e-mail is better than hotmail, just as you could do the opposite. We'll have to agree to disagree on some points. Now that I see you explain more why you feel this way about it, though, I understand better. I should probably also try out premium before I can make a definite judgment- you can't compare description to actually using the layout, seeing the ads, having things be in your way, etc. I wish you the best of luck changing premium/deciding about it.
I tried premium for the trial period... But I didnt think it was worth paying money for. The scratchcards were very cool and the RE... and it was nice not having adds... but I just didn't think it had that extra... zing... lol
theres no real bonus to it. Whats the best thing you can get from the faerie scrathcards. I had the trial ages ago but i got my account frozen b4 i got to try a scratchcard
I think the best you can get off premium is the ability to change your Last Seen Around stats to Invisible! I agree with you fendi, premium is just cute, not useful. About the ad blocking well get firefox and it's free.
I didn't even tried it out because I know I won't want to pay for neopets. I like to play neopets but not pay.
Theatre tickets and real stockmarket? If you don't like them, take them off your portal. Everything can be removed if you don't like them. I don't have anything about tickets or the stockmarket on mine. And the REs come through your neomail, not the normal site. You never get ones 'with Chia's walking past' or whatever was claimed. They are always neopoints/items. I've had 3 unbuyables as random events from Premium so far and loads of NP It's all about personal choice, but you really need to make sure what you're saying is actually true before you say it
well in this case i guess everyones right, in their own way. some like premium so dont. i LOVE it, and there is the free trial so you can see if you like it too so whether youve heard negative or positive its completely up to you if you want it though, besides if you get to do the free trial there is no harm in trying it, if you dont like it dont pay for it.
