Alright guys this is going to be my second guide on this site, and this is going to be very basic, but for those of you that have never heard just what the firmwares on the PSP are, please read this guide before you start trying to hack your PSP.

A normal person would tell you that the firmwares on PSP are updates that Sony release from time to time that will give you new features on your PSP. And while that is true it is not the entire truth behind Sony's updates. The full truth behind Sony's updates is that yes they give you new features on the PSP, but the other reason that Sony release updates is to keep Hackers out of there system. With the new updates Sony also includes security updates to keep hackers out. Basically all of the firmwares after 1.5 will not let you run hacks, easily. So for people that are new to the PSP hacking scene it is best to stick with Firmware 1.0 or 1.5.

If you have already upgraded your PSP do not fear. In later guides I will be explaining how to downgrade your PSP back to Firmware 1.5. (Note: If you have updated your PSP past 2.0, then never try to downgrade to Firmware 1.0, this will brick your PSP and your sysytem will be useless.)

As I said before, most if not all of the hacks that I use will not run on any firmware above 1.5. It is possible to run homebrew on any firmware, but the simplest way to run hacks is just to downgrade, also some hacks if you wish to run them on other Firmwares require you buy certin games to run the hacks. For instance it is possible to run hacks on Firmwares 2.0-2.5 but in order to do so you must buy GTA for the PSP to run hacks. So if you are reading this and are above Firmware 1.5 then be on the look out for my next guide which will tell you how to downgrade your PSP's Firmware. It is also possible to obtain all of the features that Sony offers, like the PSP browser, and PSP camera without actually upgrading, which I will also talk about in later guides.

If you guys have any questions regarding PSP Firmware please post them here and I will be glad to help with any questions. I have been hacking my PSP since the day after the PSP came out, so any questions you guys might have I should be able to answer. And if I dont know the answer to one of your questions then I will find the answer and get back to you guys as soon as I can.

I think you're extremely out of date with this dude. There are downgrades from even the highest firmwares now.

    I suggest Dark Alex's custom firmware 3.71 m-33 v2. It has 1.5 firmware kernel.

Remote? Can you elaborate? There are tons of homebrew out there that can make your psp do a variety of tricks.
