PSP9 Help

    I've gotten ok at using psp I can work brushes ect but I don't understand how people get images without turning them into a brush and without any background. The only logical way I can think of people getting rid of backgrounds is slowly erasing it, is there a special tool to just get rid of backgrounds?

    New Brushes, or just plain old "new pictures"?
