It has a "Reset" button on the back, could I just press that and change my IP instead of unplugging it and waiting 5minutes?? Or would my IP only change when I unplug the modem for 5minutes??

I don't think resetting it will change your ip, but it might be worth a shot.
As far as I know, the reset button just resets all your settings back to default ones and only is used mostly for troubleshooting.
That's just my linksys modem, Idk what type you have.
If you've never changed your settings before, you could try it because it wouldn't change anything.
However, if you've ever had to do any port forwarding, firewall exceptions, etc. I wouldn't do it because you will have to do all that stuff again.
The reason I don't think resetting will change your ip is because then it would be too easy for everyone to change theirs and cause a hassle for their respective isps.

Whenever I change routers, my IP changes but I don't think it changes when I reset the router....worth a shot though.

I don't think that is going to change it necessarily. I can't remember exactly how all that works but I know I looked it up a while back. I just googled something along the line of "how to change my ip" I read about how a static ip does one thing and another kind does something else  how's that for confusion? Anyway, I think you will need to know what kind of server you are set up with to start with to even know if it will work.
However, if you don't get an answer here as fast as you would like, you could find a site that tells you your ip now, unplug for 5 and then check it to see if it did change.
Sorry I can't really help ya but good luck.

My Modem is a 2Wire modem, I wasn't sure what the reset meant though...like reset ip or settings or what.

Guess I will have to stick to the "Unplug and wait 5 minutes" method.

    Thanks all. :)

    1. You're IP address has very little to do with what modem you have, what router you have, whether you are using a router or modem, etc. Almost EVERYONE has a dynamic IP.
    2. Sometimes 5 minutes doesn't work. I know it doesn't for me. Try leaving it for a longer period of time, like overnight (which worked for me).

5minutes works for me, I've changed it 3 times today I think. Just pressing a button is easier than waiting 5minutes, so just wanted to see if that would work for me, but guess resetting doesn't do anything to the IP.

I usually don't change my IP, so this might be the first time in a couple weeks. Hopefully, it doesn't start taking long periods of time. D; (I got banned from an online server for a game I play, and well, yeah that "Permanent Ban" only lasted 5minutes.)
