Hey, I am starting to get into the whole AB scene and i've read alot bout proxies and was wondering exactly what they do for you and if I need to look into them
Proxies allow you to browse through sites with anonymity. Say you're on a site, get ip banned, then you use proxies to get around the ban, your ip will appear to be different from the first one. I'm sure someone (Billy?) will come in here and explain this more technical, with pictures and stuff, but these are the basics. I'm using Tor and Privoxy combined, but I'm not sure if it works with autobuyers. If I get ip banned or need to browse a site without them knowing about them, I click "use new identity" and voila, no one will know who I am.
No, I'm using firefox. You just make a small few things to your settings in ff, and it will automaticly connect through Tor (or something like that).
Firefox has tabs as well. And I'm fairly sure that you can use Tor with both Oper and IE just as good as with firefox.
This topic is not about which browser gets you a score of 1067 in Wingo. The question was what proxies are. Here's my explanation. A proxy is the address of a server (call it a computer, if you like) on the net which has of course, another address than your own computer. All modern browsers support the use of proxies to connect to the internet. If you use a proxy to connect, your own computer address (IP address) will be overridden with the one from the proxy, thus making you an anonymous browser. You should know however, that most proxies do leave traces to your real address and only cover it partially. More info about proxies.
It depends on whether the AutoBuyer you're using supports the use of proxies. If it doesn't, Neopets will be accessed with your default address, being the address of your computer.
aight, so should i try to get an AB program that supports proxies, and if i do this won't it decrease my chance of getting frozen
Well if you get an autobuyer that supports proxies, you'll still have the same risk of getting frozen. But if you get ip banned when you get frozen, you can bypass this with proxies and still be able to create new accounts. But ab'ing with proxies isn't going to lower the chance of getting frozen.
It decreases your chance of a chain freeze.. ;p If one account has one IP and one has another.. it won't look like they're same person.
