system restore help?

    i have hp pavilion & tried to put in my system recovery disc & its not working? i clicked on erase & then recover option & it sat there for 6 hours & didnt do anything. it never showed a progress line or anything. it was not responding to anything i did, esc, alt+ctrl+delete, etc. the mouse wouldnt respond either the cursor wouldnt move at all. i thought maybe it froze so i turned it off & did it again. the same thing happened it sat for 7 hours this time. i just turned it off & gave up. wats wrong y wont it recover? i have 2 discks w/ my pc, system recovery & application recovery. i was useing system recovery. i want to wipe the pc of everything then put it all back.

    If you have everything saved on disks, great.

    Turn off your PC and there should be an option when you boot up that says "Hit F10(May be different) to enter HP recovery console. Once you do this you just let it reformat and then BOOM! You're good.

    I had to do this when my computer blue screened after a power surge. Lemme know if it works.

    check your system recovery disc first make sure the surface of the disc is clean.
