    Number 1: My mate was installing Norton onto their laptop and they kept getting a pop up saying they needed to go to http://www.registrycleanerxp.com. I have checked out the site and it seems ok to me, but I was wondering if anyone has either used/heard of this site and if it really is legit.

    Number 2: If I view an online video (i.e. from you tube), is there any way to download or record just the soundtrack part of it? I don't want the video itself, just the music or sound part of it.

    First question:

    DONT do it. There's no reason to. Those registry cleaner programs are 90% of the time a scam, full of spyware and stuff, regardless of what the site says or how legit it looks

    Second, you can get an MP3 sound recorder. My friend has one, can't remember the name though. We prank called AOL over skype (back when landline calls were 100% free) and recorded it. They were giving us a sales pitch, asking us what we liked and stuff (so they can sell us on AOL's "features" and junk). And we were like "yea. do you have any pron content? That's the kind of stuff i'm into."

    And then we did the same with GoDaddy, asking the customer service lady what good names for pron sites were, and asking if she wanted to trade a domain name for a subscription to our site.

    Thanks, I did have a feeling that site wasn't quite right.

    I have googled MP3 sound recorders and it looks like there are quite a few free ones. So if anyone has used one, please let me know which are good, can be trusted etc.

    I have a really good program that has many nice features like cutting Sound away from videos Download youtube videos convert them to iPod and PSP format.
    It is at http://www.dvdvideosoft.com and they have a lot of different video editing things on there when you download the program it will but Free Studio Manager <Manages all the programs it has and all you have to do from there is click on one of the tasks: and it will ask you to download them say yes and you will get it. It has worked perfectly for me. <It will decrypt DVD's as vobs too but the sound quality is ... :arf: but it will work.

    ::Correction::
    Nvm lol most have just been that night. It decrypts videos Perfectly for me perfect sound quality and absolutely perfect video quality. :D :D
    ::/Correction::

    Dont ever click those popups advertising computer check-ups. Most of the time they cause more problems than they supposed to solve.
    Also, I despise Norton. I dont like it, I think the best type of programs are the free ones such as, AVG, Spybot, etc. Goodluck.

    I second the Norton is crap. Any program that fights you to uninstall it is crap.

    AVG is good but I don't really feel the free version is the best you can do.

    AVG paid
    NOD32
    PC-Cillin (the newest unbloatware version)
    all work pretty well for virus protection

    I'm really not one to play with my registry unless I really must. Better to just backup all your important files and do a clean install in cases where you really have registry problems...ala viruses bad corruption, etc.

    I've found one nice simple program that puts registry codes in to simple text but is otherwise fully manual for the simple stuff like deleting that stupid auto update on startup key many of programs have. Such as Adobe and Apple...may they choke on their bloat.

    It's called "RegCleaner.exe" and was freeware but I'm not sure it's the best by any means or if it's even still out there.

    Ew Norton is crap. They put viruses into your PC just so their program can clean them out. Use McAfee.

    Well I quite like Norton and have never had any problems with it. Also, I wasn't really asking for advice on the best Anti-Virus thing to get but thanks anyway, I will bear it in mind for future reference.

    And thanks for the help on the audio thing. Will go and look at that site in a bit.

    I know, I was giving my opinion on Norton. Also, I did thank you and mention that I will consider it in the future which I will, as my Norton expires sometime this year, at which point I will be considering changing from Norton to something else.
