I have a 2 year old dell that is starting to lag alot!! i know i should get a new pc but i dont have the money. ive decided to but to 1g ram cards and add that to my pc. but i also want to completley wipe it so its just like its came out of the box. How do i do this?
If you still have the cds that came with it, you can use those to restore it to factory settings. Otherwise you can try to pirate a new windows cd off the internet and use that to reformat your hard disk and install a fresh copy of windows.
There would be disks that came with ytour system use them and It will wipe your computer clean with a new os and stuff. I have a dell from 6 years and it to is very laggy. If possbile remove all programs by using add or remove software. And then use a program like tuneup utilities to clean up what was left behhind. You also may want to go onto dell and see what they say
That would just be stupid... Why waste money on a new computer when you can easily wipe the hard drive on the decent computer you already have.
you should reformat, and use the cds that came with your computer if you have important stuff on your HD right now, just send it over to an external hard drive, and then transfer it back over when you have your resetted computer
This topic is a bit ironic because thats exactly what I just had to do. Restore my dell through deletion and system restore. Mine all of a sudden got a HUGE lag on it. So today, I deleted everything. But I did get a new computer too, an Acen 2008.
My computer is about 4 or 5 years old and I wiped it clean several times.. does the trick but then I put all the crap on it and then its back to where it was Try to avoid getting new computers unless your old one really is broke to bits because new computers will just end up getting "old" after the same amount of time and you'll just be repeating the cycle (plus, you don't have the cash) BUT if you ever do wipe and reload, try and have a second computer (at the library or another on in the house or something) so you can look up any problems that are starting.. The dell disk didn't work for me so I had to do it with a floppy disk. I'm not a computer whiz but I knew enough and I had my dad's computer to google all the little commands and stuff.. but apparently you restored? I've done that like a couple of times but i rather just start from scratch
or you could just call dell or whaaatever comp computer u have and ask them about debugging your computer they'll take u threw a step by step guide Don't gravedig. ~L_scorpio
