i'm going to college soon, and i want a laptop that is fast (budget < $1500) and can also be used for relatively lagless gaming i don't trust ebay, because yeah i just don't. a lot of the sellers don't look too professional. currently i'm thinking of using ibuypower.com, but was wondering if anyone else had any better ideas
why dont you just browse some electronics stores in your area? I dont know anything about computers, and the workers in the store really helped me out
good call on not trusting ebay... people on that site are greedy sometimes. well, i'm not too fond of laptops and i don't really know much about ibuypower.com, but i've heard good things about it from my stepfather. i took a quick look at the site - they seem to carry some pretty top-of-the-line systems. i'd probably go with them.
i just bought my laptop at bestbuy... they had a back to school sale... i got it for 549 bucks. its not top of the line but it is very nice. a gateway. If you can wait untill thanksgiving you can et HUGE savings!!! i'm gonna camp out at bet buy this thanksgiving... my boyfriend needs a laptop now...
I have a Dell, and I haven't really had any major problems with it. It's actually pretty durable. I spilled ramen on it (so collegiate of me) and had like a puddle of water sitting on my hard drive or whatever, and it managed to survive with no problems at all! The only real problem I've had is that I've gone through like 4 A/C adapters. They constantly seem to stop working for me for some reason. I dunno, but I'm really drawn to Macs right now for some reason. I was using one of my friends and everything was just so simplified. I really may just sell my laptop and get a Mac haha.
With a buget like that you should be able to get a custom made laptop, Dell can make them cheap. but with colleges you probs wanna be careful a lot of things get knocked about xD
Indeed they do-- so Dell also has an option of "Complete Care" which you can get for your laptop. Basically if ANYTHING happens to it, they'll fix it for free within like a day or two.
Yup, as much as I used to hate Dells, they really are getting a lot better than a few years ago. personally I like toshiba's and HP's. just cause that's what I've always bought. Thinkpads are nice too ! but you pay and extra couple hundred for the name. Only real advice, buy with a three year MFG warranty, not one from a retail store, those guys rarely follow through as promised. lately I've been buying from insight.com, or tigerdirect.com. Slightly better Cust Serv. at insight imo. but both have great prices.
