I'm looking into buying a laptop, but I don't know what's really "good".

I understand the basics: High RAM is good, get Nvidia graphics, and that's about it.

Primarily I play games on my laptop, from Red Alert 3 to World of Warcraft.

So, what is your personal preference? I'm lazy, so I'm planning on just going onto a website and going with whichever customization options are offered.

Dell, compaq, whichever. Make and model of your preferences? :)

Personally, dont get a compaq. Its my desktop, and By downloading only a few things, its slow as molasses.
But My friend has a Mac, So I would lend you my advice and say splurge for one.

I suggest a Mac. Very good computer and less prone to viruses. Also, you can still run windows on it with a program called boot camp

Any of the XPS line carried by Dell would suit you, I'm using an XPS M1730 which is 4 gig ram, Dual 8700GT, duo 2.66ghz etc. It's pretty costly however so you might wanna look at perhaps some of the Toshiba range, they are pretty good and value for money.

If you really want to dish out the cash, you could get an Alienware. They're a little more expensive then the XPS line I believe, but they're made by the same people and they look sweet.

For gaming purposes, look into an Alienware laptop, expensive yes but worth every single cent in the end :)

I think you can get nearly any brand nowadays with the specs that suit you for around the same price. Are you a student? You should be able to get some discount at for example the apple store!

    Is what I was thinking.

I'm clueless with Hardware. I don't care about sound, as long as it has speakers that're actually audible.

The Video, is that a good name? I can't even remember, having been so focused on nVidia for so long.
I'll probably just be playing WoW, and various new shooters. I don't have to have maximized graphics.

If this can't run it, or if you know of somethin' better... opinions?

You don't want AMD. AMD is generally way slower than Intel.

And Intel integrated, usually sucks. So that makes AMD even worse.

To continue looking! :) Thank you.

AMD isn't THAT bad. I had one in my old computer and it ran great until the whole thing got struck by lightning, lol.

But yea, technology has come so far that you don't need to spend a lot and get top of the line to still have a quality gaming machine. However in your case, since you're getting a laptop, I would recommend spending a little more if you can since laptops are a lot tougher to upgrade than a desktop. Like everyone said, alienware is pretty much top of the line if you can afford it. Good luck! :)

I currently have a Dell laptop.. and lets just say Ive had to send it in a multiple number of times. Ive called them so many times that they have a file for me and they need to read that file everytime.

Theyre like "OKay Miss, let me just take a look a the information we have here." 20 minutes later... "Okay sorry about the wait, I see where were at now"

I mean they have good customer service. I just got a really crappy dell. :(

If you are using your laptop for RA3 or Warcraft then you wouldn't really need a very powerful graphics card or processor like those used for games like Crysus. I wouldn't recommend a Mac since the games you mentioned aren't built for Windows, and even if you do use an emulator like Parallels, you'd probably get half the performance from using a Windows laptop.

Try to look for a Windows XP laptop because Vista's DirectX10 interfers with RA3 and you'd have the program crash once every hour or so. Somewhere along the line of 1-2gb RAM, 8600GTS, and a 2.0ghz C2D processor should be alright and affordable.
