i purchased a netgear super-g wireless modem router today and need help setting it up.

so we have 2 phone sockets in the house both of which are no where near the pc. i followed the instructions but it comes to a point where it says to connect the ethernet cable from the router to the pc. As my pc is no near my phone line and the router plugs in at my phone line the cable does not reach.

Therefore what is the solution to this problem???

The router also came with a USB adapter which i thought i could just plug into the pc and it would recieve the wireless waves.

thanks to any1 that helps and plus rep if it works :p

EDIT: Here is what the router came with :

    super-G Wireless Modem Router (DG834GT)
    Power Adapter
    Ethernet Cable
    Phone Cable
    ADSL phone line filter
    Vertical Stand
    Resource CD
    Installation Guide???
    Warranty/Support Information Card

Yeah, if you plug in the wireless adapter to your PC and install the necessary software (should be in a CD), you should be able to connect to the router.
Otherwise, get a longer ethernet cable :p

Even if that doesn't work... buy a really long ethernet cable just for the set up (they are pretty cheap). After the initial direct connect, you can easily set up a wireless network from your computer and then after that lose the cable. Or temporarily move your computer close to the router just for the set up.

I have a Belkin Wireless router that we were having the same problem with when we were trying to set it up. We bought a 50' Ethernet cable for like 10 dollars I believe, and once we were able to connect the first time there was no issue setting up the wireless. We were even able to move the modem and router into the living room so that we could connect to xbox live via 1' Ethernet cable. All three of the computers in the bedroom are able to connect with the signal just fine. (and for those thinking that my bedrom is covered in computers, its not. its 1 desktop, 1 laptop, and a sony vaio UX Micro PC, Google it)
