yeah, the latency times for ssds are ridiculously low compared to normal HDs honestly, its not worth it unless you do some HD intensive stuff
I received last week my new comp and I'm running a similar setup... I'm running E8400 like you want and I'm totally sastified with them... damn fast and 6mb l2 cache... as for the video card, I have the sapphire hd4850 and it's doing a great job... But take a casing with a lot of fan/cooling hole: this card is running hot... around 75c at idle  but above average performance and about half the price of a card in the same category. For the board, Asus is well known for it's overclocking capacity so you can't go wrong with that brand. For the ram, nothing to add. Nice computer... apart of the SSD hd 32 gb... kidding me ?? It can barely held all the programs I'm using. and too expensive for my taste...
excuse me for being ignorant but if a ssd doesnt make it fast, and an uber processor doesnt make it fast, what /will/ make it fast (dont say gentoo)
!!! that's ridiculously hot. you need to cool that thing down otherwise the lifespan of that thing is gonna plummet very quickly 32 gb is average. and you dont have to store all your programs and stuff on it. just the HD intensive ones. the rest can go on a regular HD Hey, I didn't say that an ssd wouldn't make it fast, or a uber fast processor. I just said that the speed increase wouldn't be worth the price.
ok thanks, that makes me feel better about my purchase, tharoux. and i guess i will get a ssd in that case.anything you can recommend to make it like uber fast? as in, like a part change or something also, thar, what case did you get?
Its plenty fast is as Here are some things that speed depend on: FSB, N/S Bridge CPU speed, caches RAM timings, latency, bandwidth HD rpms, latency, bandwidth gfx card speed audio card? cooling
That seems to be pretty normal. On the temp reader, I'm still in the "green" section (green/orange/red/death). That's why I said you need a case with alot of cooling Nothing special... In fact, I don't even know the brand... I took this case because of the above post. So it was more a matter of function over style.
4850 is the best bang for your buck according to tom's hardware through personal use I find more problems and slow downs with ATI on normal video games then other people with lower grade Nvidia cards. I know this is driver related as hardware wise I don't see how it could be unless something was defective or poorly casted, I've gone as far as using Omega Drivers but it's still a big headache really I've not been happy with either video card maker atm and my staple ASUS has been receiving some bad press lately so who knows if you have something that you think works, check out new eggs responses and see what the general trend, with a grain of salt though as some of those reviews are clearly either made by idiots or shills
'lil update... I just bought Flight Simulator X. One word: WOW !!!! Using directx 10 (and a powerfull gpu: hd4850), it's completly insane ! even at FULL details, no lag AT ALL !!! Happy gaming Billy !
:O awesome! im really excited, it should be coming really soon. i was kinda worried about the cpu not being the best but it seems fine for me, and the gpu seems awesome, especially compared to my 7600gs . i have one question tho, is vista slow or laggy for you? cause ive heard some pretty bad things about vista, but its so damn shiny! i couldnt resist, so i bought it lol. i just hope the wolfdale, ssd, and 4 gigs of ram will be enough to make it fast and responsive
I won't be able to help you... since I'm running "only" 2 gigs of ram, I stayed with XP. Neyond 3.5 gigs of ram, you need vista or you the PC won't be using all the ram. The bad side is that there's no directx10 for xp. The upside is that there's always someone somewhere that is able to bypass such problem. But getting back to Vista, it isn't as bad as everybody says. With a good computer, you'll have better performance, thanks to the fact that vista will use the full available ram. And totally on another subject, I'm installing crysis right now... I'll post an update. I just went throught the list of games that support directx 10 and I'm testing some to see what it's like
sweet. i was gonna go for 6 gigs of ram, but i thought that would be overkill, maybe i should have gotten those extra 2 gigs :s. but please do post the fps from crysis, as thats what i am really interesting in playing on like very high or something. if youve never played crysis before, its a really fun game, i loved it. but i only got halfway through and then the fps took a nosedive and i could barely play (before i was playing on low everything at 800x600 and i still got like 15 fps) but i really hope the 4850 can take AA really well, cause i hate jagged things!
I just played with crysis... BIG WOW !!! As for the FPS, don't really know... It's not showing nowhere... With my system, the game placed the setting at "high" and I did not experience a single lag at 1024 x 8xx. Time to crank the setting a bit !
:O kick. ass. if you really want to know the fps you can run the benchmark http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1791 but i dont want to force you to do anything im not that impatient. but im ready to be impressed by crysis
oh great, just my luck, everything but the motherboard is shipping today ugh ill have to wait till at least monday to get the motherboard. </3
Code (Text): Don't worry after your all setup you would have forgotten all about the wait. Keyword, after the setup. Building a computer isn't as easy as it sounds. gl billy
meh, it should only take like 2 hours max, im not putting any watercooling or anything like that. i found out that the mobo might be 2 days late! damn my impatientness
