OK since no one understands how to RIP the music, I'll go ahead and say it :| Yes, retry Audacity. I searched HOURS upon HOURS to find an mp3 recorder that was free, but I found nothing. I downloaded cracks for them, and they still didn't work. Then I looked at my old version of Audacity, decided to upgrade it (Free, yes) and I opened up the beta version and found that it could record. I've used it for many songs and it works GREAT, and its free unlike what I was searching around for (WAY less features for 30 USD.) You just got to know what you're doing though. In Audacity if you need help figuring out how to do it just pm me. EDIT: I'll just actually say it while I'm here. This is only tested in the BETA version, so download that. Open it up, and you should find a drop down of sounds like phone line, mic, etc. Look for the one of your sound card, and keep testing. Finally, play the song while running Audacity and fix the volume a tad bit so it isn't distorted. Then play it again. You should have the song then recorded, export it as mp3, wav or anything else. Then look at the destination, open it up and look at it...and it should be great. With Audacity, you can also cut out pieces of the beginning so don't worry if you didn't start it out well. Like I said, its a magnificent program. But if you found one...good for you Next time if you're looking to do more download it again.
DO NOT USE LIMEWIRE OR KAZAA TO DOWNLOA ANYTHING THAT IS COPYRIGHTED...just incase the bold isn't enough DO NOT WANT DO NOT WANT DO NOT WANT DO NOT WANT ok anyway... bit torrent is nice but it is a file format I suggest the program uTorrent...it doesn't really require an install and has the smallest footprint I suggest the website The Pirate Bay : http://www.thepiratebay.org DO NOT USE AMERICAN BIT TORRENT SITES TO DOWNLOAD CONTENT... To throw in my own unique suggestion try http://www.pandora.com and then google pandora's jar as the ripper

file2hd.com is great! also, if you have a livejournal the 'indieexchange' community has just about every indie artist you could desire. also there's always googling. just type in "artist" "album/album" "rapidshare OR sendspace OR mediafire OR megaupload" i've never NOT found a song or album using the googling method
