I was at 107 yesterday, before Jaggerrr's rep. I'm at 106 today, after it. Obviously it must've been someone with magical moddy powers, because there's no record of where the five went, even in my recent reputation points. I can't do anything about it, clearly, I just want to know who I've pissed off. I don't understand the point of minus repping someone when they don't know exactly what they've done wrong, and thus can't stop. Or did someone take away rep that they'd given me? I mean, that's cool, but again, I'd still like to know why.
Mine has dropped too. I had 55, but I noticed a couple of days ago that they'd dropped to 51 so I don't think it's that someone's giving you secret, negative rep. More likely a glitch somewhere along the line. Unless we've both pissed someone off. In fact, this could be possible... If a member is banned/deleted, is the rep they have given other users disregarded maybe?
If they're banned, it doesn't disappear (viewreputation.php?id=6471 Dark still has some from Royal and a wack of it from Heya), and I can't think of anyone who would have given me some that has been deleted, but you never know.
That's very odd... Secret rep can't be given (to my knowledge) Mods can delete rep, but I don't think any mod would do that :S I'll look into it...
I went through and manually tallied both my rep and Tricia's, because I thought that maybe a bot had gone through and removed all the rep that occurred on boards that had been deleted (I know that I have some of that) but neither of us were congruent there, so I don't think that that's the case either. =/
Like rep inflation? Or do you just mean the amount of rep that each player can give? Because I know that part, and took that into account.
You mean someone may be a level 5 and so give 5 rep points when they rep, but they may only have been a level 2 when they actually gave the rep and so would have given less? That would need to be taken into account, but I know I had 55 and now I have 51 so the fact that it's decreased doesn't make sense.

If you hover over the little colored box that shows what kind of rep it is (positive, negative or neutral) it gives you a numeric value. I counted the numbers. Is that all you mean? I just didn't understand the point of having been negatively repped if someone wasn't going to tell me why. It's like how I have rep from a new user for one of my posts, and they didn't leave a comment and I don't know if that means that they approve or disapprove or were just trying out the rep function in the middle of a week-old (at the time) thread, and it absolutely drives me absolutely CRAZY.
Oh, hang on a second... Don't you get rep for reaching certain numbers of posts too? Or is that just the little rep bar that increases?
Oh, didn't know that XD *cough* OCD *cough* Anyways. So you tallied them up and what were your results? Did the sum agree with the reported amount? Nope, you only get rep for when people +/-rep you. The amount of rep is independent of the number of posts you have.
I completely misread this bit as meaning your actual rep instead of the rep you can give to someone else. Fail for me
You can't see the rep that you get on threads that you aren't allowed to view. So if a thread's deleted, then you still have the rep, but it isn't recognised on your user reputation point page. I counted Tricia's rep, but since I'm Level III and she's Level V, if she's received rep in Level V chat, I can't see it. I know for a fact that I've received rep for threads/posts that don't exist anymore, and thus they aren't included on my rep point page. I thought that maybe a bot went through and said "hmm, there's no record of this rep - it obviously shouldn't exist *delete*" but since I totalled 101 for myself and my rep still says 106, I don't think that this is the case. Since it was five gone, I assumed at first that it was one instance that had been removed and that it had been done by someone with a rep power of five. Apparently not. xD
Hm, NF technically doesn't have any bots that roam around doing stuff like that. Point is, I dunno what might have triggered the loss of rep...
I don't know anything about bots and what they may or may not do (except for the ones that post in the giveaway threads to try and get me to buy Viagra). It doesn't really matter too much to me now that I know that I didn't piss someone off so much that they made my rep less without telling me why. I just wanted to know what I'd done. =)
